Now, more than ever, parents are looking for more natural cleaning solutions for their homes. Thankfully, essential oils make cleaning a breeze. These oils can be used effectively to clean your home. There are five effective ways you can use essential oils to clean various areas and surfaces around your home.
Create an all-purpose cleaner with lavender oil
Take a plastic spray bottle and fill it 3/4-full with water. Add 3-to-5 drops of lavender oil and a squirt of dish soap. Screw the top onto the bottle and shake it vigorously. If you are not a fan of lavender, you can use pine or lemon doTERRA oils instead to achieve the same level of clean. Apply the solution to a sponge or spray the liquid directly on the surface you need to clean.
Create a pine-fresh floor cleaner
Add 1/4-cup of vinegar to 1-quart of water. Stir in 5-to-10 drops of your favorite essential oil. The most common oils used are spruce, lemon, or pine. Stir the mixture together thoroughly. Dip a mop or floor sponge into the solution and clean your floors. Rinse the entire surface with clean water once the floor is dry. This will help reduce any residue or stickiness on the surface.
Mix essential oils with laundry detergent
Essential oils can be used to clean laundry, each offering its hand to address different things. To help purify, add 25 drops of eucalyptus oil to your existing laundry detergent. This is especially helpful when cleaning pillows or bedding. Add 2 drops of lemon oil to stained clothing directly. Let it sit for a few minutes before adding the soiled fabric to the washer. If you are washing cloth diapers, add 5 drops of tea tree oil to the detergent to cleanse the fabrics.
Create an effective window cleaner
Add 1-cup of water to an empty spray bottle and add water until the bottle is 3/4-full. Put the lid on and mix the liquids together by shaking. Remove the lid and add 10-drops of lemon essential oil. Replace the lid and shake the mixture before spraying onto windows or other glass surfaces. Wipe the liquid off using a lint-free cloth or a paper towel.
Lemon cleaner for vacuums
Lay tissues on a flat surface and drop 5-drops of lemon doTERRA oils on each. Suck the tissues up with the vacuum. The tissues will remain inside the vacuum until you empty the filter, leaving an attractive aroma during each use.
