Bouncing Boys? 3 Genius Home Repair Hacks For Those Inevitable Accidents

May 4, 2017 by Pam Maynard

Whether you have toddlers or older boys in the home or just children in the home at all, there are accidents that will likely happen. An accident can also occur if there are adults in the home who try everything possible to be careful while cleaning, working or just walking from one room to another. Fortunately, there are some hacks that you can keep in mind for home repairs that might seem just too difficult to get under control.

Hanging Around

There are times when pictures might be knocked off the wall and broken or cracked. An easy way to make sure pictures and decorations stay in place on the wall a bit better is to transform the wall into a large magnet. There are products that you can get to make the wall magnetic and strips that you can put on the backs of the things that you want on the wall so that they stay in place. Another issue that you might come across is knocking holes in the wall while putting nails in place to hang pictures and decorations. You can put a comb around a nail before hammering so that you have better control. This will help to prevent holes that you don’t intend on putting in the wall while saving your thumbs at the same time.

Broken Glass

At some point, some type of glass in the home will be broken. It could be a glass door that gets a rock thrown through it, drinkware that gets dropped or mirrors that are broken. An option for saving glass that has a small hole is to put nail polish inside the crack. This will help to keep the break from spreading farther until you can get it repaired. If the break is severe, it might be a good idea to go ahead and get the glass replaced by a company like Glasshopper Schor Glass.

Dents In The Floor

While running through the home, children might dent the carpet by playing too rough. They could also put dents in the carpet with their toys or even with a walker if you have a baby in the home. An easy fix is to put an ice cube on the dent on the floor so that it can melt. When the carpet absorbs the water, it will start to expand once again.

Fixing things that are broken in the home can be difficult and expensive at times. However, if you follow a few simple hacks, you can save yourself some time and money. Get children in on the ideas of practicing safety in the home so that accidents don’t happen.
