Celebrate A Century Of Clean With S.O.S!
Happy spring everyone! Have you had a chance to open the windows and doors and let some fresh air in yet? This is quite possibly my favorite time of their year! I love the cool fresh air blowing through the house, it motivates me to get the house in order and get some stuff cleaned!
When you think of spring cleaning, you may just be picturing cleaning out the closets or the garage. But for me, one thing I like to do is make sure all my kitchen ware is extra clean. I usually let the dishwasher do all the work most if the time, but it doesn’t always get the job done and grime builds up over time.
I can always count on S.O.S pads to get my pots and pans clean with little effort. There is always such a variety of scrubbing pads available, and since I cant just pick one, I pick them all!
Celebrating 100 years
Did you know that 2017 marks the 100 year anniversary for S.O.S? It has been a trusted brand for even our ancestors, how awesome is that?! 100 years is truly a remarkable accomplishment and I am proud to celebrate this milestone with them!
About S.O.S
Developed in 1917 by a cooking utensil salesman named Irwin Cox. The scrubbers were designed to help his customers keep their new pans shine. Cox’s wife called the pads S.O.S-which stood for “Save Our Saucepans”-and the rest is history. Today, S.O.S Pads are a trusted scrubbing powerhouse for millions of people nationwide, ‘saving’ everything from saucepans to shower walls and stovetops to patio furniture.
When S.O.S Pads Were Introduced
When S.O.S pads were introduced, the world was certainly a different place. Electricity and indoor plumbing were still considered luxuries. The Eiffel Tower was the tallest structure in the world, and women didn’t have the right to vote. The trusted method for cleaning pots and pans was to scrub them with squares of cheese cloth or old flour bags and ‘washstands’ were meant to be cleaned with Borax, ammonia and yellow soap. Housework has come a long was since 1917, yet S.O.S pads remain the number one problem-solver for America’s grungiest jobs.
S.O.S Steel Wool Soap Pads
Steel wool pads are made with durable steel wool and saturated with long-lasting soap. The tiny scrubbers are powerful and versatile enough to tackle a wide variety of cleaning projects both indoors and out: scrubbing pots and pans, degreasing ovens, removing sticky labels, cleaning soap scum and hard water stains in the bathroom, cleaning grill grates and more. Available in three fresh scents-Regular, Lemon, and Lavender.
I am so intrigued with the way things were 100 years ago. Hearing how this hard working couple invented something so useful is so inspiring! After all these years, It’s such a dependable product and a popular household name. I love how versatile these pads are. I know my patio furniture can use a good scrubbing as well as my shower, but I might leave those jobs for my hubby! Shhh…
