The platform brought in $1.53 billion in mobile ad revenue last year, which although is a lot is only 8.4% of Facebook’s mobile revenue. By 2017 roughly 70% of brands are expected to be using it for marketing purposes, which includes mobile ads.

Instagram is the second only to Facebook in the amount of users that report being cyber bullied. Data suggests 23.4% have been targeted in this way, with women experiencing it more than men. Twitter is a close third at 21.4%.

Despite the bullying, Instagram appears to be all about love. The number one hashtag on the platform is #Love and the most popular emoji using in captions is the bright red love heart. #Beautiful is the fifth most popular hashtag.

Women hold the top 5 positions when ranking the highest followed accounts. These are Selena Gomez (105 million), Taylor Swift (95 million), Ariana Grande (92 million), Beyonce (90.4 million), and Kim Kardashian (89 million). The only men that make the top 10 are Justin Bieber and The Rock.
