Making the Most of Feeding Time When Breastfeeding Doesn’t Go As Planned #ParentsChoice #ad

February 21, 2017 by Victoria

Additional Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum Shopper but all opinions are my own.

When my third child was born I had my heart set on breastfeeding her. I had never breastfed before, but was excited about keeping our expenses down. The bonus was that I had hoped it would help guard me against breast cancer later.  At that time, breast cancer prevention was important to me. This really pushed me to keep trying even when it wasn’t working. Because my daughter was losing weight, her pediatrician recommended pumping so we could see how much she was getting.  When we realized it wasn’t enough, we started supplementing with formula. I was crushed.

When I was struggling with breastfeeding, I wasn’t enjoying my moments with her at all.  It was painful.  I cried.  She cried.  We didn’t have a great experience and there were days when I was dreading every minute of it. After supplementing with formula, I took time to heal — both physically and mentally — I realized that it wasn’t a failure because I gave it everything I had for several weeks. Formula is what was best for her.

Parent's Choice Quality Formual Exclusively at Walmart

Formula feeding doesn’t mean you don’t bond with your baby. I still found ways to make the most of feeding time by continuing to go into a quiet area, never propping her bottle, and giving her 100% of my attention.  As she got older, feeding time became our time to listen to soothing music, read books, or just cuddle quietly.  She is eleven years old now and I still cherish those special moments with her.

Exclusive to Walmart since 1998, Parent’s Choice® Infant Formula has been a leading choice for feeding babies with millions of parents across the United States. Because of it’s affordability, we used Parent’s Choice® with our oldest three children throughout their baby years.  It saved us a combined $3,600!
