Anytime my family goes on a roadtrip we (parents) look for ways we can get our kids to put down the electronics and pay attention to the beautiful landscapes we are driving through. They don’t always agree with our request, but we have found that if we ask them really nicely, tap our feet twenty times, pat our head twice, and say “please” they actually will put them away. Okay, so that doesn’t work either, but we do have a lot of luck when it comes to playing games. If we plan a game to play during the trip, they get so involved with it that they forget they aren’t glued to their tablets and phones anymore.
What is my kids’ favorite game to play in the car?
Roadtrip Bingo!
Roadtrip Bingo is an easy game any family can enjoy while driving. The main goal is to get your kids looking out of the window on their own. When they find something that is on their BINGO card they cross it out (or circle it). Once they have found enough to mark out a row diagonally, or across, they yell “BINGO” to win!
Your co-pilot can teach little ones how to play by helping them spot the travel-related items with them.
Tip: Make the game even more interesting with prizes! Roadtrip snacks, spending money for the next stop, or small toys are always great rewards for the winner.
