December is here and it’s time to start baking!
Those cookie gifts and swap platters are not going to bake themselves!
It is a family tradition to start researching new Christmas cookie recipes immediately after Thanksgiving. Each year we try to blend our old favorites along with the latest in cookie trends, so we can give food gifts that are anything but boring. For our Volume 1 of the December Holiday Cookie Collection I want to highlight some of the old favorites and traditional cookie recipes, because they are the easiest to freeze.

Do you love Turtles? A late childhood friend of mine and I would buy each other a box of Turtles for Christmas every year, and trade. While the boxes of Demet’s Turtles haven’t been the same since his passing, I still like to enjoy Turtle-inspired homemade treats during the holidays. The Kitchen Is My Playground has created an Insanely Delicious Turtle Cookie that I cannot wait to share with all of my dear friends this year. I’m excited to find out if they will become my new tradition!

Cincy Shopper has quite a cookie on her blog! It is called a Hot Chocolate Cookie and I’m intrigued by the flavor combination. She even goes as far as to prepare a marshmallow creme icing to top these chocolatey thumbprints with! Yum! Yum!

My youngest daughter and I are big fans of maraschino cherries. Anytime we have a jar laying around we both end up eating the whole thing and leaving nothing left! After stumbling across Baking Beauty’s Chocolate Cherry Blossom Cookies recipe I’m completely wowed! She uses an entire jar of maraschino cherries in her Chocolate Cherry Blossom Cookies!!! AND to really set-off this recipe she even includes a little of the cherry juice from the jar for even more of a flavor punch! It looks like I”m going to need a few jars of cherries this week…
