November 27, 2016 by Pam Maynard

Japanese Anime and Manga is all the rage these days!  My son and his friends are into many anime characters, series and snacks.  I didn’t tell my son that this HUGE box of Candy was coming and it was worth the look on his face when I surprised him with it!  We have reviewed other Japanese Candy Subscription boxes, but this one is by far the best one yet!

Crazy Japanese Snacks:

The most exciting part about Japanese snacks is that they are ever evolving to meet today’s consumer needs, in Japan. Additionally, you can see trends with seasonal, limited edition candies and snacks, which you don’t often find elsewhere. For example, in the spring, there are Sakura-flavored Kitkats. In the summer, you will see the release of the often anticipated Yubari Melon Kitkats. In Japan, new types of snacks are always coming and going off the shelves of candy shops and convenience stores throughout the country. On the other hand, there is also a love for traditional Japanese confectionaries known as Dagashi candies (駄菓子), which is a favorite for all in Japan, as eating them brings back a bit of nostalgia of a more simple time.

Our Thoughts:

We were sent the Premium Box which contains over 2 pounds of candy!  It has 13 to 17 items in it.  One of those is a DIY Art Gummy Pack and a unique carbonated beverage.  This month’s beverage is Cream Stew Ramune.  Neither one of us wanted to try it yet.

Our favorite items in the box:

Choco Chips: These mini chocolate chip cookies are the perfect snack to take with you on the go!  They are crispy and delicious!

Hi Milk Chocolate CUBIE: This chocolate cubes just melt in your mouth.  I have to say, my son had to hide these because I couldn’t stop eating them.

White Milk Caramel Corn: These are similar to traditional candy corn but they are much creamier.  My Hubby loved these the best!

Mokeke with Chain: This cute alien character is a fast favorite for my son and his friends.  They all want to know where they can get one!

Christmas Edition Shimi Choco Corn: These are a corn puff snack soaked in chocolate- the perfect sweet and salty snack! They have a unique taste and texture that all of us loved!
