Throwing the Perfect Dinner Party

July 22, 2012 by Pam Maynard

When throwing a dinner party it is important to make sure that things run smoothly and ensure that people are having a good time. So here are a few hints and tips that will help you organise, run and execute the perfect dinner party.

The first step is to create the perfect guest list; you need to make sure that everyone at your dinner party will get along and subsequently have an amazing evening. Once you have finalised your guest list and a rough seating plan you will be able to start handing out invitations to your guests. You can make these attractive, or you can invite people over phone or by text, it is completely up to you.

Whether you are throwing a dinner party, or a barbeque you should make sure that you set the stage. First off you need to choose the perfect place to hold your party, whether that is your garden or your dining room, and in most cases this completely depends on the season.

The garden is the perfect place to hold a party in the summer, as you can invest in some fairy lights and create a perfect indoor environment outside. A great way to do this is to take your dining table outside and decorate it in a luxurious and interesting way. Runners can give your table a whole new look, especially when combined with a centrepiece. If you are having a barbeque then why not invest in some quirky paper plates? These can accent your event perfectly and give the impression that you have thought about your event and how it should look.

Last, but by no means least, you should decide on your menu. You should take into account any allergies or dietary requirements – you don’t want your guests getting ill. You should try to prepare as much of your meal as you can before your guests arrive. This will help you free up some of your time, allowing you to entertain your guests.

As with every party you should make sure that you set the mood, whether that is with music, or entertainment. You should also make sure that you prepare for the event, and make sure that your food is prepared in good time before the event. Once you have your dinner party all laid out all you need is some banging tunes and you will be away. Dinner parties are a great way to get to know other people and in general, just have a really good time!
