Car Crash Course: What is the Best Ride for a Busy Mom?

August 5, 2016 by Pam Maynard

Busy moms know how fast their time goes. Choosing a car is probably not at the top of the list either. The process of picking a car that’s suitable for mom is simple if several things are considered during the shopping phase. A family car must have features that benefit hyper kids, athletic teens, and other frequent passengers. If you know what features to look for, narrowing down your options becomes a lot easier.

Car Crash Course What is the Best Ride for a Busy Mom

Space
If you have a large family you’ll definitely need a vehicle with a big cabin. Since kids often get pretty antsy long trips, most moms select an SUV that has some walking space. This extra space provides easier access to every passenger, so the process of securing each seatbelt won’t be a hassle.

Folding Seats and a Large Trunk
Because most families shop in bulk to save money, dozens of SUV manufacturers make vehicles that have folding seats and a spacious trunk. These automobiles benefit moms who transport strollers, tons of groceries, bulky luggage, and heavy sports equipment.

Space for a Booster Seat
Safety is a top concern when car companies design vehicles that are suitable for families. However, because all automobiles are constructed differently, some booster seats may not fit securely in a cabin. To ensure complete safety, always test any vehicle you plan to purchase by placing your booster seat in the rear passenger area. If the seat wobbles, find another car that has a more efficient support system.

A Great Safety Rating
If you want to keep your family protected during each road trip, buy a car that has a high safety rating. When you visit a dealership or St. George for new car, ask the sales employee about each vehicle’s crash test results, rollover data, and child safety benefits. The most popular automobiles for busy moms have helpful safety features such as multiple air bags and a blind spot detection system.

Automatic Doors
Automatic doors help large families begin and end traditional road trips without any hassles. For example, before you leave the driveway you can close the door next to your kids in the back of the cabin automatically. At the end of a sporting event, everyone can enter the vehicle without tumbling or fighting. Sliding doors are very large, so multiple kids can step into the car at the same time.

Keyless Function
If you always have problems traveling to various locations on time, you might want to buy an automobile that has keyless technology. By using a button on the key fob, you can start the car quickly without entering the cabin. This feature can be quite helpful on very cold days since you’ll be able to start the car while relaxing in front of the fireplace in your home.

Bluetooth
Driving a car while using a cell phone is dangerous and illegal in some cases, so any car that has Bluetooth will be very helpful. Bluetooth technology uses a car’s audio system to transmit cell phone data. It also has scheduling capabilities and advanced features that make basic tasks easier for busy families.

Entertainment Options
Hyper kids will need a variety of entertainment features that are accessible in the back of a cabin. Thanks to new technologic advancements, modern cars are now designed with CD changers and DVD equipment. If you purchase an SUV with these features, your kids will remain quiet during every road trip.

Special Elements
If possible try to select a car that has special features such as cup holders and sockets for different gadgets. You may want to find a vehicle with separate air vents in the cabin if your kids have unique temperature requirements.

Each of these features are found in most cars that are sold at typical car dealerships. During the shopping process, always test each technology because some elements may not benefit everyone in the family.
