Protect your little ones with a Whole House Water Filter

April 6, 2016 by Pam Maynard

Besides all the childproofing around the house, there is a lot more you can do to protect your little ones in the home. Impure water can be a silent killer, especially because some of the contaminants may even go unnoticed when the water looks clear and sparkly. Getting a whole house water filter is advisable if you want to ensure all the faucets in your house are producing clean and pure water that is fit for consumption. If you have little kids around the house, it may be difficult to know which faucet they are drinking out of. The best whole house water filter is placed at a central point for all the water in your home to pass through before being distributed to the outlets. The filtration system contains layers of different media that trap various contaminants in the water. Here is how a water filtration system can help protect your little ones:

Their health

Water contain dangerous contaminants such as metal salts and oxides, harmful bacteria and other microorganisms as well as excess levels of chlorine. Some of these mineral salts tend to accumulate in the body and can have adverse effects ion their health. Bacterial and other microorganisms cause infections and infestations. Although chlorine is used to purify water from microorganisms, it is also referred to as the insidious poison. Chlorine can react with organic matter in the water to form dangerous carcinogenic compounds.

Their skin

Clean water is not only for drinking but also for bathing and showering. Taking baths in contaminated water can expose your child’s skin to all kinds of harm. The unexplainable skin conditions you have been tackling with may be due to the kind of contaminants in your home water that you are unaware about. Skin problems such as rashes and boils can be attributed to the water. You may notice a drastic difference once you switch to a filtered system.

Their clothes

Some of the mineral salts in the water make it difficult to lather soap when washing. These salts can end up forming scum when they interact with soap. Often referred to as hard water, it is extremely difficult to get anything clean with this kind of water. For clean, fresh laundry, you should connect your washer to the water from the home purification system. Using purified water in your appliances will also make them last longer with less maintenance and repairs necessary.

Their food

Although your kids may be drinking clean water from the dispenser, they still wash their hands, fruits and vegetables using the water from the faucet. This can equally expose them to the risk of absorbing contaminants from the water. Your children are much better off having access to clean water throughout the house.

Young children often have vulnerable health since their immunity is not very strong. You can do your best to ensure you reduce their exposure to health risks as much as possible by purifying the water they use in the home.
