Seven Fun Activities for Moms and Dads

June 13, 2012 by Pam Maynard

Seven Fun “Play” Date Activities!

Kids Love Them, You should too!

Are we missing out on all the fun?  Why do kids get to go on fun playdates?  It’s time for Parent Playdates!  Here are seven great activities to get you started:
1.  Wine Tasting: If you’re a wine enthusiast, do a wine tasting.  Most tours include behind-the scenes vineyard tours and of course, wine tasting. A Sonoma wine tasting at a vineyard such as Benziger, offers a diverse portfolio of certified sustainable, organic and Biodynamic wines from premier appellations throughout Northern California. In our Sonoma Mountain wine tasting room they invite you to create your own sampling menu based on your tastes.  Check online for wine tasting events in your area.
2. Dancing: Are you dying to get out and get moving on the dance floor with your hubby? When was the last time you danced with your husband? Find a club that offers music, food and dancing that suits your tastes.  Sign up for ballroom dancing lessons or country line dancing.
3. Hiking:   Are you an outdoor enthusiast? Hiking is one way to spend some quality time with your spouse.  Take a day trip to hike to the top of a peak, one that would be sure to take twice as long with children in tow.  Be sure to bring a fun picnic lunch to make it even more special.
4.Ski trips: Great activity to do in season. You can even go moonlight skiing at some ski resorts.  Try tubing for even more together time fun.  Get a tube for two and hang on!
5. Romantic picnic: Take your spouse to the beach, a park, somewhere where you can enjoy each other’s company with a bottle of bubbly, grapes, cheese, crackers and strawberries.  Feed each other, take a walk, nap on the picnic blanket.  Just enjoy and relax.
6. Sunset cruises: Take a cruise from the beach or a lake at sunset.   Most times, they offer reduced prices for a shorter cruise,  a bar, dancing , food and live entertainment.
7. White Water rafting: For the adventurous parents, schedule a rafting trip with a few other couples.  You can get a package deal with a small group.   Attempt at your own risk!  Don’t forget your lifejacket and a waterproof camera!
