A wise person once stated that “creativity is intelligence having fun.” Anyone who is a part of a family knows the importance of having fun. A great way to infuse a lot of fun into family life involves exploring creativity. Creative projects are a fun way to exercise and strengthen those creative muscles.
1. Family Tree
Get a bunch of photo albums or pull pictures from online storage and gather them together in one place. Invite family members to pick out their favorite pictures and don’t forget to include really special moments like graduations, weddings, and birthdays. Once all the good pictures are chosen, stencil or apply a large wall decal that’s in the shape of a giant tree. At the end of each branch, place a framed picture on top. By the time this project is complete, there should be a large family tree spanning the length of the wall.
2. Matching T-shirts
Even though everyone in an immediate family knows their name and title, a cute way to reinforce this is through matching T-shirts. Purchase T-shirts from a shop like Absolute Screen Printing and buy fabric and/or puff paints. Allow children to make their own designs and put their name and even a nickname on the shirt.
3. Kite Design
Kite making is actually a pretty simple process. Supplies for building the kite involve wooden dowels, scissors, string, tape, thread, and paper or fabric. Whether you choose a paper kite or a fabric kite will determine what type of materials are necessary for the design. Paint and markers are pretty universal tools to use. After decorating kites as a family, put the kites together using the tools previously mentioned.
Choose a nice day where it’s warm enough to go outside, but there’s still a good amount of breeze in the air. Everyone can fly their own kite at their own pace.
4. Seasonal Wreaths
Many families enjoy displaying seasonal wreaths on their front doors. There are four different seasons, so create four wreaths to express this. The spring wreath can be filled with lots of silk flowers. Choose seasonal flowers like tulips and peonies. The summer wreath can be filled with sunflowers, greenery, and wooden twine. The fall wreath might be appropriately filled with silk leaves in fall colors like red, orange, and gold. Switch it up a little with the winter wreath and use a hot glue gun to apply ball ornaments to a wreath for Christmas flair.
All of these projects are a lot of fun and involve dedication and creative detail. Before long, the house will be filled with joyous memories of creations the family made together!
