Great Gifts for Stressed-Out Moms with Babies

February 5, 2016 by Pam Maynard

No one ever said motherhood is easy. Being a mother is perhaps the most stressful thing in the world. Most moms are overwhelmed by chores, schedules and in generally worrying about the safety of her baby, she has very little time to take care of herself. There are plenty of ways others can help a new mom alleviate all this hectic tension—a lovely gift. Well, it will take more than a card and a mug to make a mom feel really appreciated, so here are a few ideas:

kids-mom stress

A fun top for breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is an important aspect of being a new mother. Many mothers find breastfeeding a joyous activity, albeit a bit hassle some. When a baby is screaming from top of its lungs it can be a bit difficult to remove tops and bras in a hurry. All this worry can go away with a convenient top made just for nursing. Far away from being drab “mom wear,” there are plenty of designer nursing tops out there that look chic while being wonderfully convenient for the needs of a new mother. Shop around to choose one that your giftee might like. She certainly will remember a helpful gift like this.

A night out with friends

Break her free from her hectic schedule looking after the kids and doing housework with a much-needed night out with friends. The venue will have to be close by, and she might want to leave early and get back to her babies. Still, it’s worth the effort. You will have to arrange a reliable babysitter and transportation. It’s not like the college days anymore, so the venue will have to be something other than a hardcore bar. It’s best to avoid drinking too much in case there’s an emergency. As long as there’s great food and good company, it’ll be all she needs to unwind and feel refreshed.

No-nonsense maternity jeans

Motherhood means you no longer fit into your old pants, literally and figuratively speaking. That’s why a sturdy and comfortable pair of maternity jeans will be a magical gift to a new mother. She needs all the convenience she can get.

Offer to do some chores

If you are strapped for cash, this just might be the best option. No mother will turn down an genuine offer to do some chores around the house and get a load off her back. It’ll be just the break she needs. You can offer to do little things like the laundry or make a lovely dinner for the family. Better yet, you can offer to do her some clothes shopping. New mothers have neither the time nor the energy to shop around like during pre-baby days. Instead, having someone else fill up her wardrobe with new designer maternity skirts and shoes will fill her heart with joy. It’ll be a generous gesture the mom will not forget, ever. Don’t forget to get her sizes and preferences right.

Mother Goddess Jewelry

Throughout history in all cultures, comparisons have been made between motherhood and godhood. Metaphor aside, you can show how much you appreciate a new mother with jewelry uniquely designed for moms. Get her a necklace that celebrates breastfeeding, a child-safe bracelet or earrings that pays homage to motherhood. She will certainly love such a gesture.

You can improve on the above suggestions with your own ideas. For the best results, customize the gift, such as by engraving the mom’s name on any jewelry being gifted.
