5 Movies to Watch with Your Kids on a Snow Day

January 17, 2016 by Pam Maynard

There’s nothing better than watching movies when your kids are home from school on a snow day!  Here are a few movies to watch with your kids!

  1. Rugrats Go Wild

What’s better on a snow day than to escape to palm-lined beaches and exotic jungles? Kicking off our list are the beloved Rugrats and the Wild Thornberrys with the 2003 classic Rugrats Go Wild. The rugrats get stranded on a deserted island, where they have to fight many odds, even a clouded leopard. Finally, they come across the Wild Thornberrys and get rescued by a cruise ship.

  1. The Adventures of Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure

A scavenger hunt turned out to be more important than Mickey Matson and his friend Sully expected: A map left by Mickey’s Grandfather leads to the Copperhead Treasure, which could catapult the whole country back to the Civil War. 1. The Magic Gift of the Snowman

Sometimes when it’s cold out, it’s best to indulge in winter magic. This charming cartoon about a magical snowman is perfect for every winter-loving kid. Emery Elizabeth is a little girl, who unfortunately is sick around Christmas time. Every day, her brother Landon tells Emery a story about Snowden the snowman, who lives in an enchanted kingdom surrounded by children, where the beds are made of marshmallows and there is always fresh, white snow on the ground. In this fantasy world, the good Princess Electra and her magical smile keep people happy all year round. One day, Electra’s smile is stolen and Snowden comes to live to pull Landon and Emery Elizabeth into his magical world for the adventure of a lifetime

Jack and the Beanstalk is a heartwarming fairy tale, fit for children around the age of seven. In this fantasy story, Jack needs to rescue a magical harp in order to prevent being thrown out of fairy tale school. Helping him on his perilous quest is the spunky Jillian (Adorable twelve-year-old Chloe Grace Moretz), a fearless young girl whom Jack meets on his journey – and who just may have a hidden agenda.

  1. Popeyes Greatest Tall Tales and Heroic Adventures

For those who love classic cartoons and laugh-out-loud slapstick humor, Popeye is a treat for young and old. Popeye the Sailor Man always said, “I yam what I yam, and that’s all that I yam!” In Greatest Tall Tales and Heroic Adventures, he is the star of nine delightfully entertaining vintage cartoon classics, including “Patriotic Popeye”, “Assault And Flattery”, “Me Feelins Is Hurt”, and “I Never Changes My Altitude.” Guaranteed to make a grey day in a whole lot of fun!

Extra tip for binge-watchers: Inspector Gadget

Who doesn’t remember Inspector Gadget and his cunning niece Penny? Your kids might be too young to know the nineties classic first hand, but that doesn’t mean the cartoon series has lost any of its charm. A snowy day might be the perfect opportunity to binge through the entire original series  – completely for free.
