7 Things to Remember Before Your Daily Errands

September 21, 2015 by Pam Maynard

Often, heading out the door to run your errands is a flurry of activity–especially if you have small children at home who will be going with you. Getting everything gathered together and ready to go can be a challenge. Follow these seven tips to make running your errands as smooth as possible.

Have a List

Write a list before you have to leave to run your errands. This may be an ongoing list that’s attached to a convenient place in your home until you’re ready to head out the door with it or a quick list that you put together before you leave. Whichever it is, make sure that you take the time to write the list.

Gather Up Coupons

There are plenty of sites out there that are ready to save you money if you can just remember to use them. For example, you can find many coupons for Target by searching different coupon sites. Before you even leave the house, you can also find promo codes for Target.com. Taking advantage of these offers will help you cut down on costs.

Plan a Daily To-Do Record

What things do you need to accomplish while you’re out? Take a moment to create a rough schedule that will make your errands as convenient as possible. For example, if the dry cleaner and the bank are on the same end of town, it’s probably more convenient to visit them both at once than it is to run back across town to grab the dry cleaning halfway through your errands.

Prioritize

There are often circumstances that can lead to your errands needing to be put off for another day, so it’s important to know which ones you really need to accomplish and which ones will wait.

Reminders

If you’ll be taking small children with you, include a reminder so they won’t be left in the car by accident. It’s never save to leave a child alone in the car, especially a child who is still in a car seat. Put your shoe, purse, or other vital item in the back seat with your child to help remind you that you’re there.
Hydrate

Take plenty of water with you. Whether you’re running errands during the hot summer months or in the middle of winter, when stores dry out as a result of the heat running constantly, you’ll be glad that you took steps to avoid dehydration and keep you from needing to buy a drink while you’re running errands.
Eat Before Grocery Shopping
If you’re going to be grocery shopping, eat before you go. This will help you to avoid impulse buys and increase the odds that you’ll come home with what’s on your list and nothing more.

Running errands may be one of the most time-consuming parts of your day, but it doesn’t have to be one of the hardest! By following these seven steps, you can help ensure a successful shopping experience.
