thredUp is Thanking Teachers!!!

First off- who IS thredUP?

thredUP is the easiest way to save money on great Women’s and Kids’ clothing brands and sell clothes for cash. We’re like a consignment store, but simpler. On thredUP you can refresh your entire wardrobe online without ever leaving your house.

HOW IT WORKS:
Browse thousands of like-new clothing items, which we’ve hand-selected and certified for quality. You’ll find all your favorite brands discounted up to 90% off, year-round.

And, when you’re done with clothing, simply fill up a thredUP bag and put it on your doorstep. thredUP covers the shipping, and pays you for every item we can sell to other families.

Our goal is to make your life just a little bit easier.

We eliminate the stress of deal hunting by offering consistent discounts every day.
We take the hassle out of bringing your kids into a store by allowing you to thredUP online.
We relieve that recycling guilt by helping you lighten your family’s carbon-footprint with every order.

School will be here before you know it.  We wouldn’t have an amazing school system here in Alton, if it wasn’t for all the AMAZING teachers that give from the bottom of their hearts.  How many times have you heard teachers say that they buy so many things for their classroom out of their own pocket?  My Sister-in-law and Mother-in-law were both teachers so I know firsthand how much they give just to keep their kids fed or clothed or both.

Why is thredUP thanking teachers? For starters, we know schools are super important to our customers. And, we heard that:

  • 1 in 3 teachers are actually buying clothes for students (along with school supplies) with money from their own pockets.  It’s true- my sister-in-law confirmed it!

Fashion resale site thredUP.com has partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org to recognize and thank teachers for their hard work and the positive impact they make each day on our children’s lives.  thredUP thought, let’s get these teachers some amazing thredUP clothes asap! Then they decided to publicly recognize as many teachers as they could!

AND… today is the day that the Raise a Hand for Teachers program is LIVE!  How do you participate??  It’s super easy!

1.  Nominate your favorite teacher HERE!  Nomination period is July 15 – August 23

2.  Get your friends to vote for that amazing favorite teacher.

3.  Then- THREE winning teachers will get thredUp credit for their classrooms!  How amazing is that?

Did you know?

  • Teachers are extremely generous with their time as well as their money. According to AdoptAClassroom.org, teachers spend an average of $500 of their own money each year to equip their classrooms. 70% of teachers have even purchased apparel items like jackets, socks and shoes for their students.

Be sure to:

  • Read the inspiring nominations and watch an adorable video of kids thanking teachers, plus find new survey data from AdoptAClassroom.org at thredUP.com/Teachers

The Prizes:

  • Three teachers each win $2,500 for classroom supplies and $500 to thredUP. 50 runner-up winners receive $100 to thredUP. WOW!!

  • Winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 8 (following Labor Day weekend)

Our Nomination:

My son and I just nominated Susan Quinn from Alton Central School who taught 6th grade. Mrs. Quinn always pushes her students to do BETTER than their best.  She has been an amazing role model for the students as she taught with her whole heart even when faced with a new medical condition.  She always makes sure that the kids have fun while learning science.  The supplies she used were bought out of her pocket on many occasions because she loves to see kids get excited about learning!

About thredUP at Back-To-School

  • Fashion resale site thredUP.com has all of my favorite kids brands, including GapKids, Janie and Jack, Lilly Pulitzer, Mini Boden, Zara Kids and more!

  • thredUP’s prices are always up to 90% off retail, so you don’t have to wait for the back-to-school sales to start to save a ton of money.

  • thredUP is a one-stop shop, with all of the top brands in one place at thredUP.com/Back-To-School or on the mobile app. Convenient, stress-free shopping!

Who would you nominate and WHY??
