As the parent of a young child(ren) who have a sensory processing disorder, keeping them focused on any certain anything can be a real challenge. The one thing they both can always agree on is music and dancing. With Crayola® DJ, a fun and unique music creation app for kids, ages 6-10, they can learn the basics of music production together, as well as mixing and scratching music like a real DJ.
Crayola DJ is a creative way for young kids to create dance music just like a DJ would. When you start the app the main screen has two DJ turntables and several buttons. An audio and text walk through help you and your child navigate how to use the app from there.
First, you need to select the type of genre you want your music to be. There are five musical styles available, including Hip Hop, Pop and Dance. After that you have several other options of sound effects and tempo changes (the app has almost 100 exclusive tracks.) Get your beat going and just hit record to save your creation.
Once a child has mixed their music to perfection, it’s performance time! They can perform on the main stage for an audience, scratching the turntable and creating a spectacular light show with the color-coded tracks. It’s a lot of fun and they can even earn points during the show: The more scratching and on the fly changes children make, the greater the applause of the crowd and the higher the point score.
Challenge you friends, or parents, to a game of “who is the best DJ” in two-player mode. The two player mode puts turn tables on both sides of the screen to make challenging each other easy. (You can also challenge the game in single player mode.)
This app is very kid friendly with the fun music , easy use and bright colors.
The new Crayola® DJ app is available now for $4.99 on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. Later this month, it will also be sold in the iTunes Store for iOS devices, for the same price.
