6 Foods to Eat This Spring

May 31, 2015 by Pam Maynard

Are you tired of eating the same boring foods that you have been eating all winter long?  You are not alone. It’s common to get a little tired of the food in your cupboard, much like you get tired of the clothes in your wardrobe. Fortunately, it’s easy to give your diet a makeover with the following six foods this spring.

veggie burger

1 – Veggie Burger

With barbecue season approaching, it might be a good idea to cook some veggie burgers. This is a healthy alternative to traditional burgers. Even better, you can make a yummy salad or cut up some berries to serve with the veggie burger. This is a lovely spring meal that you will love eating.

2 – Mangoes

When it comes to fruit, mangoes are a popular option during the spring. They are great to eat alone, and they are also a great topping for many of your favorite food items. In fact, you can add mangoes to the following for added flavor.

  • Salsa
  • Salad
  • Dressing
  • Chicken

3 – Spinach Salad

Most people like to eat salads during the springtime. When you are making your favorite one, try adding a little spinach to it. This is a great way to pack in nutrients to your diet, and it will make your salad feel a little more seasonally appropriate. You can also mix in your favorite fruit, some cheese, and a lightweight dressing.

4 – Ginger

For your desserts, skip the chocolate and consider foods with ginger. There are many yummy cocktails with this ingredient and a variety of other sweets to try. The ingredient might provide you with the pick me up you are in need of for the spring season.

5 – Asparagus

If you are looking for a great side dish to serve with your main course, then asparagus might be the perfect option during springtime. This is when the vegetable is in season, and you will love the added flavor and nutrients that it provides to your meals.

6 – Sandwiches

Along with the amazing fruits and vegetables that are in season during the spring, many people like to eat sandwiches. A BLT, for example, is a great option to eat during lunch on a hot spring day. You can also try chicken salad sandwiches or tuna. All of these sandwiches have a spring flavor to them and they are likely to be satisfying as the temperatures rise.

There is no need to get stuck in a food rut with the variety of spring food available. Try some of these six food options for a delicious spring.
