Give Back this Mother’s Day – Send an ecard Made by Avery #cancersurvivor

May 7, 2015 by Pam Maynard

Avery Driscoll, a 12-year-old cancer survivor, has made it possible to give back this Mother’s Day.  This young, brave girl has designed an ecard for the occasion in hopes of raising money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants worldwide.

A 2013 St. Baldrick’s Ambassador, Avery was diagnosed in June 2011 with a brain tumor. Even when Avery underwent treatment that caused her to lose all peripheral sight, her can-do attitude and tenacity helped her remain strong. She is currently stable thanks to the advances made by childhood cancer research. She is a spirited and courageous girl who loves to draw, sing, play the piano and create art projects. Avery dreams of becoming an oncology child life specialist and helping kids discover their own “can-do” spirit. She is thrilled to be able to give back to St. Baldrick’s after all they have done for her and all kids diagnosed with cancer, and she is especially thankful to her mother.

It’s a Mother’s Day gift that gives back.

Give the gift of childhood cancer research & send this special ecard to let her know how much she means to you.

Avery writes, “I love you because you love me. Thank you for teaching me how to sew, taking me to piano and helping me when I had cancer. You are the best mom in the world.”

To send Avery’s personally designed ecard to a special mom in your life and donate to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, please visit StBaldricks.org/mothers-day.

In addition to this effort, a group of moms are preparing to participate in the 46 Mommas Shave for the Brave event taking place in Kansas City, Mo., on June 20.

The 46 Mommas represent the reality that each weekday, on average, 46 families in the U.S. are told that their child has cancer. Each year, a new class of Mommas from the U.S. and Canada shaves their head to raise awareness; and is inducted into the group to empower and engage mothers of children with cancer. To date, the class of 2015 has raised more than $53,000 to add to the impressive overall total of more than $1.6 million.
