National Geographic Road Warrior Giveaway- ends 5/20

May 8, 2012 by Pam Maynard

Nat Geo Road Warrior Giveaway!

Planning your summer vacation? Looking to share the great outdoors with your kids? In need of some backseat/airplane fun for the younger set while en route to your destination? National Geographic Kids Books has two terrific books that will make your family road trip fun, educational and easy to plan. These two books are sure to make road warriors out of even the biggest homebodies!
Did you know National Kids to Parks Day is May 19th?  In honor of that day, Nat Geo is rolling out a new app: National Geographic’s National Parks App available on May 19th on iTunes.
The Ultimate U.S. Road Trip Atlas contains maps, games, interesting facts and boredom busters (who can spot the wackiest road sign??) to make your next journey an adventure to remember. Every state is featured and includes a map of the state, 5 cool things to do there, fun facts about the state and the animals that live there and even quirky roadside attractions. And, in case this comes in handy, helpful traffic laws you won’t believe (who knew you couldn’t drive any skunks INTO Tennessee??). To purchase The Ultimate U.S. Road Trip Atlas go HERE.

Justin’s Review:

Justin’s one-word review of this fun Atlas is “cool.”  He enjoyed learning about each state, finding our state, finding Grandma June’s state and trying to figure out how to get from here to there.  His favorite part is  Stump Your Parents Game.  He loves it when we don’t know the answer to a question about the United States and he does.  “Mom, I learned that in 2nd grade,” he told me a few times.  He also enjoyed the Find it pages.  He has always loved puzzles, especially hidden object puzzles.

I really enjoyed how the book was laid out.  It is colorful, has many facts and pictures for each state.  Not only does it tell you the state bird, flower and animal, but it also gives you 5 cool things to do in the state.  Each page each has a boredom buster to keep kids entertained for hours.  The games in the back of the book are fun and can be done over again, the next road trip!  This Ultimate US Road Trip Atlas is a must have for that next car trip with your kids.  I highly recommend this book for kids ages 4 to 11.

If you’re trying to decide which of our country’s amazing national parks to visit, NG Kids, together with the National Park Trust, has created National Parks Guide U.S.A. Broken down into regions of the country, this handy guide has all you need to make your visit to these treasured parks an experience your family will never forget. PLUS, grab a copy of National Parks Guide U.S.A. and mark your calendar for May 19th — National Kids to Parks Day.  The National Park Trust and their mascot Buddy Bison wants everyone to have an American park experience and invites every family in America to visit a national, state or local park on this special day. To purchase National Parks Guide U.S.A go HERE.

Justin’s Review:

Justin’s one-word review of the Parks Guide was “neat.”  He liked learning about the parks in our area.  The book was fun to read, gave great facts and important information for each park.  He liked the My Checklist section of each park.  He has parks picked out for the next 5 family vacations from this fun book.
Not only does each park have a section for My Checklist, it also has Dare to Explore section.  That section tells about other parks and attractions nearby.  Each nearby park or forest also has a web site included so kids and parents can go online and learn even more information before their trip. I enjoyed the fast facts on each page.  Great trivia questions for kids.  I highly recommend this book for kids ages 7 to 12.
