OK, all my hardcore iPhone users- check out my first week with the Nokia Lumia 830! I am so excited to be part of team #RockintheLumia and we are getting excited about the challenges.
I have used a Lumia before, so I was slightly familiar with the whole phone. I had to insert the sim card and battery and replace the back cover. My first impressions were how big the phone was. It’s like a small tablet. But it feels good when you hold it. It’s not heavy, it’s easier to type a message because the keyboard is larger and it is very stylish.
The features that I am the most excited to learn about are the amazing Camera, the tiled app home screen and the windows apps that are comparable to my iPhone apps.
The first thing I had to do was to transfer my data with the Switch Easy Bub. It really was easy- just like it says. I already had a microsoft account, so it was even easier then I expected.
The Transfer my Data app was already installed on my Lumia so all I had to do was follow the instructions. It uses bluetooth to transfer all my contacts over to my new Lumia. Easy Peasy! Then I just had to Sync my phone with my cloud accounts and PC. It was all much easier than I expected!
Apps are the parts of the smart phone that actually makes it useful. Lumia has two notable app discovery platforms that will help you get the most out of your phone right away.
1st is App Switch makes it easy to find replacement apps for those you had on your old Android or iPhone.
2nd is App Social – It comes preloaded on your device and is a great way to discover new apps through the people you trust most.
My favorite apps that I have downloaded on the Lumia are:
- Facebook and Facebook messenger
- Gmail
- Netflix
- Phototastic
- Phototastic collage
- You Tube
- Top Task List
