Educational Building Fun with Brackitz #Review

January 13, 2015 by Victoria

MDR review-disclosure

All of my children between the ages of three to fourteen have spent hours building this past week with a new educational building toy, brackitz. Even I have spent some time playing brackitz with the kids. We have built everything from chairs for Baby Girl’s dolls, houses, toy guns, and more. It has been nice to see the kids using there imagination on something other than electronic devices.

About brackitz:

brackitz sparks the idea of innovation and the opportunity to engage in creativity with trial and error. The connecting system allows anyone (3+) to instantly build strong and durable masterpieces.

What makes brackitz different?
  • Educational – brackitz proudly promotes STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) techniques for young children to learn as they get older. Perfect for classroom use too!
  • Affordable – Choose from sets including 50, 100 and 200 pieces, with prices ranging from $29.95 – $99.95.
  • Build Up AND Out – brackitz can be used to construct innumerable creations; the one-of-a-kind connectors can interlock at different angles and directions and allow children to build circles, corners and bendable masterpieces.
  • Durable – While traditional stacking blocks collapse under pressure, brackitz allow children to build structures as big as they are without falling over. You can even move them around the house and your pets can roam free without causing a falling mess.
  • Safe – brackitz have been tested and are compliant with the Consumer Product Safety Commission for ages 3+.
MADE IN THE USA

brackitz has proudly won Brain Toy from Academics Choice, Toy Man eChoice, STEM Toy Award, and Creative Child Toy of the Year.

brackitz comes in three different package sizes. The Creator Set comes with fifty pieces, the Architect Set comes with a hundred pieces, and the Master Builders Set is two hundred pieces. I received the Architect set and this particular package comes with sixty wood planks, ten blue ninety-degree connectors, ten orange ninety-degree connectors, ten yellow ninety-degree connectors, and ten red ninety-degree connectors.

The pieces connect by simply inserting the wood plank into the connectors. Once it is inserted together, the connection is very firm until you want it to come loose. My young children had difficulty using the brackitz because the fit is so firm. Several of our connectors have been broken during my preschooler’s attempts to take them back apart.

Because my little ones have struggled to use the brackitz without breaking them, my fourteen year-old has found himself taking request from the youngest ones.  As he keeps building, his creations get more complex to include moving parts, like a moving rotor blade on a helicopter using a marker or pencil in the center of the ninety-degree connectors.

We like brackitz, and everyone has had a great time playing with them, but I am looking forward to a few improvements in the future.  First, I would like to see a variety of plank sizes.  The current design includes one plank size and can hinder building.  Secondly, I suggest the planks be a slightly thinner so the kids don’t need as much force to take them apart.

Please visit brackitz for more information on this fun educational toy for your kids.
