I love to promote active play for my daughter. It’s so important to me that she grow up with a love of moving. It’s really hard to get kids into a mindset of being active if they start out learning that television and video games are the best thing since sliced bread. That’s important to me, because I don’t have to buy a new one every time she has a growth spurt!
I love Little Tikes. They’ve been a leader in active children’s toys for years. From the great basketball hoop I got for Riley to tricycles and everything in between, they have something for every age. Not only do they have a wide variety of toys for children of every age, their toys are super well made and easy to assemble. Both Miles and I love that. He doesn’t want to spend hours putting something together, and I don’t want it to wear out in six months!
This great Little Tikes basketball hoop really fit the bill for us. It’s made of sturdy plastic, and it features adjustable height settings, so it grows right along with Riley. It also features a breakaway hoop, which is important to me because sometime when Riley gets excited, she gets a little rowdy. Another thing I love is how sturdy it is. After you fill the base with sand, it’s not going anywhere. Just like any other set up like this, make sure it’s where you want it. After the sand is in, it’s not light. That’s a plus, though. It’s definitely not falling over!
Riley absolutely loved this hoop. She was practically dancing as we put it together, and as soon as it was assembled and stable, she put it through it’s paces. Remember when I said she could get a little rowdy? Well, she did. Thank goodness that hoop has a hinged design, because apparently, Riley thinks she’s Michael Jordan! It was a regular slam dunk contest in the house.
