What is the Hour of Code?
The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics.  The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event. One-hour tutorials are available in over 30 languages. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104.

My son LOVES the Hour of Code!  Each year he participates and comes home ready to write code for his own game.  This year he is even volunteering to help the 2nd graders with their after school activity.

Education Week, and are connecting youth from around the world to get coding.

·        We are partnering with Code.org to bring computer science professionals from Microsoft to students as guest speakers through Skype in the classroom.  Teachers can access volunteers who are experts in a range of topics from design to coding and more.

·        Meet the Microsoft Student Partners and YouthSpark Youth Advisors who are organizing hour of code events at local schools and Microsoft Innovation Centersaround the world.

·        Microsoft retail stores give young developers the opportunity to jumpstart their futures by offering them the opportunity to participate in 2014 Hour of Code though our YouthSpark Field Trip program as well as coding workshops during Computer Science Education Week.

·    hour of code 2    Working with our network of Microsoft Student Partners who serve as technology leaders on their schools’ campus to host hour of code events at local schools and Microsoft Innovation Centers around the world.

·        Microsoft Imagine, a new cornerstone of Microsoft’s global YouthSpark initiative, empowers aspiring student developers to create, code and bring their ideas to life beyond the Hour of Code initiative and throughout their educational journey. Microsoft Imagine connects student developers of all skill levels – whether they are interested in game creation, app development or a career in technology – with access to the tools, knowledge and experiences they need to inspire creativity, create new innovations and share their ideas with the world.
