Unlike other interactive technology toys, VERVE 2 requires no programming or electronics knowledge to set up. With VERVE 2, you can plug a sensor into any object (i.e. an apple) and make it a musical instrument – this gives a whole new meaning to “playing on your Apple!” Or, how about playing Guitar Hero with a tennis racket? Angry Birdswith a real slingshot? The VERVE 2 is the perfect tool for makers, do-it-yourselfers, gamers, students and tinkerers, VERVE 2 allows users to control their computer and the Internet with everyday objects and is THE perfect device for helping consumers who are passionate about bringing their innovative ideas to life. VERVE 2 is available for purchase at www.myinXus.com starting at $119.00 USD.
The uses of Verve 2 are only limited by the imagination. Anyone can bring their ideas to life without the need for programming or electronics knowledge. VERVE 2 ships with eight different sensors that can be used to create thousands of different experiences. Sensors include: light, motion, sound, magnet, force, temperature, touch and pushbutton. If you can think it, you can build it… and, often in under five minutes. It’s the Erector Set for the 21st Century!
My son was very excited to learn that we were getting the Verve 2. Of course, once we got it, it took us a few weeks to make time to get it set up. If we knew it was so easy, we would have used it the first day! All the parts in the box kind of made me want to close the lid and look at it the next day. Well, we finally got to the next day and it’s so easy and fun. Not sure what we were thinking. I do MRI’s on complicated machines
After following all the instructions, my son used the touch sensor to play Minecraft! He set the thresholds so above the line was A and below the line was D. Those letters on the keyboard correspond with moving left and right. I was very impressed that he figured this out in about 5 minutes. He set up another sensor to build blocks. After that, I was a little confused. Yes, my 12 year old son is smarter than his mommy when it comes to computer programs.
Here is a video showing the VERVE 2 in action!
“VERVE 2 is about enabling people to interact with computers and the internet in a whole new way — it’s an idea whose time has finally come,” said Mark Bachman, president and co-founder, inXus Interactive, and professor at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Irvine. “We want a whole new generation to invent awesome technologies for fun and problem solving, and to design their own creative projects with VERVE 2.”
Here is a super easy challenge for Verve2 users. (My son did this one in about 2 minutes and sent me about 20 text messages. LOL) Just imagine what he could do with this technology! The possibilities are endless. He’s already decided to use the temperature sensor to keep track of how cold it gets in his room at night. He also wants to set up a “burglar” sensor so when the cats scratch at the bathroom window off the back porch, it will send him a text message.
