Encouraging Kids to Write Letters #Oubly #ChristmasMDR14

December 7, 2014 by Victoria

One of the hardest parts of being so far away from home is the sad faces from upset little girls.  My oldest two girls and their besties break my heart a few times a week pouting over not having each other nearby.  There have been moments where my oldest daughter has refused to speak to her friends because it was “to difficult” for her and just made her cry.  When she reaches this stage, I see her friends posting sad status updates on their Facebook and it kills me.  I’ve tried to explain that our family being so far from home is straining to everyone and she has to be considerate of other people’s feelings too.  If she is too sad to video chat or call, she had better start writing instead!

When I first received my Oubly, I was planning on purchasing adorable baby announcements to show off our youngest addition to our family.  But seeing the girls continue to struggle, inspired me to pick out adorable Oubly Stationary for them instead.

My oldest daughter is all about blue. She loves blue everything – clothes, nail polish, shoes – all different shades of blue. So I picked out the turquoise Dahlia Kids Stationery, shown below, and added a turquoise edging.

My younger daughter is a purple princess who really loves purple anything.  Since she is still an early writer, I opted for a stationary set with lines on it to make writing neatly easier.  The set I found is called Cloudy Day and is offered in purple.  I couldn’t find an edging color I liked so I opted to skip this option for her.  What do you think?  Is Cloudy Day fit for a purple princess?

One feature I DID NOT SEE when I placed my order was that you can select matching, colorful, backs for the note cards.  I not sure if I just overlooked it or if they were added in sometime between my order and the time of posting this review.  I would have picked a cute backside for my girls’ note card had I seen this sooner. I’m kinda kicking myself for missing out on that (sigh).  You can select your back preference in the “personalize” portal while placing your order.  Take a look below:

You can’t have great stationary cards without an accent on the envelope so I selected some stickers for the girls to use on the envelope flaps.  Oubly didn’t really have matching stickers for the stationary sets I selected so I opted for a cute puppy with a thought bubble. I could have selected wording to be placed into the bubble, but I thought the girls would prefer it be blank so they could write what they wanted in there.

I can’t wait to receive our Oubly Stationary for my girls AND I can’t wait until Christmas for them to see it too.  They have been sneaking over my shoulder while I’ve been writing this review to get a peek at the beautiful cards. Even asking “Did you review that?  I haven’t seen those come in?  Are they for Christmas?  Who are those for?”… shhhhhh, don’t tell them (smile).
