How cute are these baby Bearded Dragon? He or she is just hours old here. They don’t stay this small for long, but it is so exciting to watch them learn everything they need to know to be happy and healthy dragons!

What do you need to know about Bearded Dragons?
Why are they called Bearded Dragons? The Bearded Dragon is so called because of it’s ability to indicate a range of behaviours using it’s throat that make it look like it has a beard. This area of skin around their throat is also known as the gular pouch. They’re able to distend (enlarge by stretching) the gular pouch and by doing this the spikes along their throat often extend outwards, making them look much bigger and threatening. They also change the colour of their throat to a dark grey. Combined with the enlargement it makes them look as if they have a beard. What do they eat? Mostly live insects like worms, crickets, Dubai beetles and more!
What do they live in? A bearded Dragon needs a warm side and a cool side to their Terrarium. They need a dessert type environment.
How big do they get? It varies depending on the sex and type of Bearded Dragon. Our biggest male- Artos is over 19 inches long (that includes his tail)
Do they like to be handled? Yes! They will sit on your shoulder for hours and just watch everything. If they are held as babies, they will love to be held as adults!
These two LeatherBack Beardies are sisters- Sunny and Moonlight. They are old enough to successfully mate. Moonlight just had her first “clutch’ of eggs last week!
