5 Powerful Breakfast Meals That Keep You Active

March 25, 2014 by Pam Maynard

Your best weight loss efforts can be completely sabotaged in the absence of a wholesome breakfast meal every morning. To lose weight, you need to maintain a great metabolic rate and this is possible only when you eat a nutritious breakfast. Without a filling breakfast meal in the morning, your body remains in a fasting state and tries to conserve the calories to carry out normal bodily functions.

Have breakfast for weight loss

A healthy breakfast meal helps to kick start your metabolism and will prevent you from binging on unhealthy foods later in the day. This one aspect is sufficient to keep the weight off. Even acclaimed weight loss programs emphasize the importance of having breakfast for weight loss. For instance, Nutrisystem offers delicious and fulfilling breakfast meals to all its subscribers. Some of its tasty and breakfast meals include Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, Breakfast Burrito, Granola Cereal, Homestyle Pancakes, Honey Wheat Bagel and many more.

Children eating a filling breakfast are less irritable and tired compared to those skipping this meal. Breakfast is undoubtedly the most significant meal in a day and you can use the following suggestions to ensure that your body gets all the energy it needs to stay active for the rest of the day:

  1. The Greek yogurt parfait is perhaps one of the best breakfast meals you can pamper yourself with. You could add nuts like almonds and berries like strawberries to it to satisfy your taste buds. This meal will offer you a balanced blend of proteins, fats and carbs for the day.

  2. Protein pancakes are excellent choices for a nutritious breakfast meal. You can whip up the batter using egg whites, dry oats, berries and protein powder and then cook these as regular pancakes. You can top these with sugar-free syrups and fresh fruits.

  3. Oatmeal: While oatmeal is a fantastic breakfast choice for starting the morning, you should remember to choose an unflavored variety; else you are likely to take in a lot of sugar in the process. The best way to make this meal more nutritious is to add sliced fruits like bananas or apples to it together with diced almonds, pecans or peanuts. You can make it even more mouthwatering by adding some cinnamon, walnuts and vanilla protein powder to it.

  4. Scrambled Eggs: This is another nutritious choice for a healthy breakfast meal that can keep you active throughout the day. You can make this meal healthier by adding vegetables to it. This is especially important since you may not be able to include veggies every time in your other meals. You can serve scrambled eggs with light-fried diced sweet potato hash browns. Poached eggs are also another alternative and you can simply prepare these using egg whites when you want to control the fat.

  5. Breakfast burritos: For those fond of eating Mexican foods, you can prepare burritos using egg whites so that you can keep the calorie and fat intake minimum. This will also help you to keep a check on blood cholesterol levels. You can add salsa to it to add more flavors.
