However, since the firefly population has significantly decreased due to insecticides and pollution, be sure to release the fireflies after the kiddos have enjoyed them awhile.

Summer is a great time to head to any one of the many state parks across the country. You and your kids will enjoy counting the stars and breathing the fresh night air.
6. Where Produce Comes From
Check with your local chamber of commerce for when and where the next farmer’s market will be held in your area. Your kids will not only get to see and sample colorful, fresh, homegrown produce, but will also have the opportunity to learn more about the growing and harvesting process. To take it one step further, help your kids start their very own backyard garden.
7. Fly a Kite
Pick a warm, windy day and find a big open field. Your kids will shriek with delight once they finally get the hang of flying their kite high in the sky.
