Children’s Advil Feel Better Center #Review

March 12, 2014 by Victoria

*Disclaimer:  I received a fever relief kit from Advil in return for an honest review of their online Feel Better Center.  All thoughts and opinions expressed herein are not influenced by the developing company and/or its affiliates in anyway. The Children’s Advil® product and information have been provided by Pfizer Consumer Healthcare.

One thing my family knows is fevers.  How?  Well, one of our children has fewer sweat glands than normal due to an ectodermal dysplasia.  A low fever for her as a toddler would be somewhere around 103; and it wasn’t uncommon for us to have to rush her to the emergency room for fevers upwards of 105!

While we have probably used every trick there is for fevers, the one thing we could not do without is our Children’s Advil. Just last week our youngest son was having a high fever for several days.  Lots of baths, cool cloths, and ice pops were our friend while we waited for his fever medicine to do it’s job.  Acetaminophen didn’t make the slightest change in his fever.  The only thing that would bring his fever down was our Children’s Advil.

While cuddling with your little one is probably the greatest thing to do with your little one while they are running a fever, Children’s Advil now has a Feel Better Center on their Facebook page.  There, you will find three categories full of ideas for how to make your child’s day better (Game On!, Get Crafty, & Fun Food).   Each game & craft contains the grade level recommendations and approximate time needed to complete.

I must say, many of these games & activities are common suggestions, such as, play cards, and build a fort. But when you are in the middle of a difficult day with your sick child, you tend to forget and overlook the little things you would ordinarily remember.  The Feel Better Center is a great resource when you are drawing a blank at what to do next to keep your little one entertained while they are sick.

The Fun Food section really isn’t something I would use when my little one is sick because much of what is listed isn’t food that is going to set well with his stomach.  Cookies and cake isn’t my idea of feel better food.  I did notice they had a small handful of healthy options:  frozen yogurt pops, fruit smoothie, and ants on a log.  While I realize this section is sponsored by Duncan Hines, I would like to see more healthy options added and less sweets.

What did Mommy Think?

I like the resource, I think it could be very helpful to a parent who is frantically trying to come up with solutions for activities to do with their sick child.  As I mentioned before, when our kids are sick, sometimes we get tunnel vision and forget the little things.  “I gave him his Children’s Advil, the fever is going down, he is getting antsy, now what?”  The Feel Better Center is a great place to go for ideas on what to do next.
