There is something so classy about sitting down to a nice, elegant dinner with a few friends or family members. It is the nice atmosphere you get from the candles burning to a nice set table with porcelain and knowing you are about to enjoy some good food. Supplies are important when having a dinner party. This is not the type of party where you supply plastic utensils and paper plates. Dinner parties call for breaking out the fine china and silverware. You can always rent some if you don’t think you have what is acceptable. Centerpiece can be some flowers and or candles. Candles set a great atmosphere to the table. Try to match your linen table cloth with your napkins, if you have them. Adequate space is needed for your guests, considering the dinner party usually starts with a cocktail and mingling. Once at the table your guests need “elbow” room so that they can comfortably eat their meal and enjoy all the courses that you have prepared. After dinner you can either serve coffee and tea at the table if space is limited, or if you have room move everyone to the living room to digest and sit more comfortably.
Compared to other types of party planning, dinner party planning is easy. You as a host set the mood for the entire night, so make sure that you start stimulating conversations if it lags, but there is no way to screw up a dinner party, just make sure you have fun!
