With winter fast approaching, all eyes are on the latest fashions trend for the forthcoming season. So what is cool for Winter 2013? Read on to get an insight.
Tartan
Catwalks all over the world have been taking inspiration from Scotland for this coming season, as tartan makes a welcoming comeback to the fashion scene. It can be a tricky look to get right, so the basic advice is to keep it simple. Never go for an all-in-one tartan look, stick to one item only.
Blue camouflage
Camouflage is all the rage amongst trendsetters this season, and more specifically – blue camouflage. Like tartan, it’s quite a strong look, so only wear a single item at once. It can work well for either a dressed down look or an upmarket, evening out style.
Sleeveless jackets
When the temperatures start plummeting, there’s always a buzz in the air about what sort of jackets we can expect to be wearing this coming season. Current predictions place emphasis on sleeveless jackets, which can suit both men and women. Available in a wide range of styles and lengths, the sleeveless jacket looks smart worn over a warm knitted top.
Baseball jackets
The varsity style bomber jacket has been popping up on the most respected catwalks in recent times, proving that it’s a style to be reckoned with this forthcoming season. A must-have for both men and women, opt for one made from plush fabrics with a slim, well-fitted cut.
Grey
Especially one aimed at men, winter style dictates that grey will be very much en-vogue this year. The desired look should be head-to-toe grey, combining different hues of grey with various items and textures.
Roll necks
Roll neck fashion doesn’t really go out of favour during the cooler months, but it’s been put firmly back at the top of the agenda for winter 2013. Roll necks sometimes earn the reputation of looking unflattering, but worn correctly they can create a really chic look. Avoid chunky necks and instead opt for silks and thin knit roll necks.
Orange
It’s not really much of a surprise to find orange on the catwalks this season, because it’s been kicking around all year, and was a dominant colour during both spring and summer. It seems that we still can’t get enough of this citrus-inspired colour, so orange outerwear for both men and women is likely to play a key fashion trend for winter 2013. Look out too for orange accessories – ties, hats, watches, scarves, bags and jewellery are all set to come bursting into stores any time soon. For the very flamboyant, grab yourself some orange socks.
Fluted skirts
Fluted skirts are very much top of the crop when it comes to female winter fashion this year. They’re very easy to wear and combine well with most other items, making it a wardrobe staple. Fluted skirts made from warming fabrics such as wool are particularly big must-haves for this season, as are fluted skirt dresses.
