The Best Electric Halloween Decorations

October 17, 2013 by Pam Maynard

This fall, don’t let your home be the boring one on the block. Instead, invest in the decorations that will make your house stand out from all the rest. Use the electricity from your home to create the best effect for your home décor. Even at night, the most important time for Halloween, trick-or-treaters will be able to see the decorating effort you have put into your home, and enjoy your creativity. Whether you purchase the decorations, or design them yourself, these will stand out better than the rest.

Spotlights

Even if you choose to invest in simple spotlights to brighten up the decorations, this is better than leaving them in the dark. On Halloween night light up the decorations in your yard, everything from a faux graveyard, to a giant spider web is just better when placed in this light.

There are a few different ways to include these spotlights into your Halloween décor. There are products you can purchase that are specifically designed for this, but that could get expensive. Instead consider buying solar powered lights that are generally placed around the yard, used to brighten a path or accent the garden. Besides the initial cost, these cost nothing to run, and can be placed anywhere in the yard with no restraints of power outlets.

String lights

Although traditionally associated with Christmas time, there are string lights available for the Halloween season. These come in a variety of colors and designs, ranging from spooky ghosts to adorable Halloween jack-o-lanterns.

If you don’t want to buy a whole new set of lights for your Halloween decoration, you can turn your plain Christmas lights into the perfect ghost lights, and then take them apart again in time for the Christmas season. Take white fabric and cover each of the lights, making the shape into a ghost. Use filling to create the head, then tying it off with string. Use a sharpie to draw a face on each ghost.

Those wanting to create a look similar to that of a jack-o-lantern without the risk of fire that comes with these Halloween traditions can create their own through lights, and jars. These could once again be string lights, or small electric candles, made to look like real lit candles. This project is great because no matter your craft abilities, or your age, you can make something unique and worth showing off on your front porch. Use light colored paints for the outside of the jar, coloring it orange for a pumpkin, green for a witch’s face, or any other design you can think of. Use darker colors to create the facial features, and other attributes of the design. Place the string lights inside to light up your creation at night.

This Halloween season look into some of the best electric decorations. No matter your budget, there is something for you to display. If you have the time, try creating your own unique decoration. This is the best way to get the exact look you want, at a fraction of the cost. You will find that even the most difficult looking projects can be completed through a little research and patience.
