Are you looking for a new and exotic place to travel? Do you want to go somewhere that can boast a wide array of tourist attractions? Do you want adventure on your vacation? If you answered yes to these questions, consider Tenerife. Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands in Spain. It is a beautiful island with many and varied things to do. The destination is great for families and young couples seeking amazing low cost deals on their holidays. The following is a list of the top five attractions on Tenerife, the largest and most populated island of the Canary Islands.
Teide National Park
Teide National Park has the highest mountain in Spain. It can also boast of having the third largest volcanic landscape in the world. The landscape surrounding this structure is breathtaking. There are two ways to get near the top: a cable car or a six hour vigorous guided walk.
Part way up the volcanic structure is a refuge where visitors may stop for one night. This refuge has all of the essentials: dormitories, an infirmary showers and a kitchen. There is much to stop and explore including reptiles, birds and five species of bats which are the only mammals in this park. The variety of plant life is amazing.
Siam Park
Siam Park is both a waterpark and amusement park. Located in Tenerife, it is considered to be one of the best parks in the world. At the water park you can relax on the meandering river or the gorgeous sandy beaches. If you are seeking excitement there are plenty of water rides. A favorite is the free fall ride. Are you a thrill seeker? No problem. There are 29 heart stopping rides. Unlike many water parks, this park has fun things to do for both children and adults.
Masca
One of the most scenic and colorful parts of Tenerife is a small mountain village. Eighty inhabitants call this rural area home. It is tough to reach with thin harrowing one lane roads. But when you get there, you will not believe the treasured sights you will see: a sparkling, magnificent beach and the steep but beautiful Masca Ravine.
Pyramids of Guimar
The Pyramids Guimar are a mysterious ethnographic park. In this park you will find a series of six stepped pyramids. At first the scientists who studied this area thought these pyramids were placed randomly. These pyramids caught the eye of famous scientist and explorer, Thor Heyerdahl. Upon studying these structures he disagreed with the idea that they were built randomly.
After studying these pyramids yourself, you can go to Casa Chacona Museum to learn the results of all the studies of these pyramids. You can find out how these pyramids align with the sun during the winter and summer solstices. While there, be sure to check out the wonderful photographic collections of this area. The museum also contains a cafeteria and playroom. Upon leaving the Casa Chacona Museum, you may follow three scenic and educational routes. These routes are the Botanical Route, the Exportation Products Route, and the Cultural Route. There is much to learn about the Canary Islands on these routes.
Swimming with Dolphins and Whale Watching
The area of the Atlantic Ocean near Tenerife boasts many different species of dolphins and whales. The area commercial boats are eager to take you out where you can swim with dolphins or go nose to nose with a whale. Some of the cruises include snorkeling. Other cruise boats have a glass bottom to view these lovely creatures when they are under the boat.
A vacation in Tenerife means many fun and interesting things to do. Where else could you climb volcanic structures, see unexplained pyramids, and snuggle with dolphins? Happy vacationing!
