The quickest way to a dog person’s heart is a gift for their dog. A care package for a friend who adores their dog is easy to get wrong. Dog treat brands come in dozens of shapes, labels promise a lot, and you will not be there when the dog finds out whether it likes the chew.
So this guide looks at seven US dog treat brands that sell bully sticks (chews made of beef pizzle) from a gift-giver’s point of view. It covers what goes into the chew, whether it smells, how it ships and what to do if the dog is not a fan.
What Makes a Good Dog Treat Gift Box
A good care package for a dog-loving friend has three parts: a long-lasting chew, a few smaller treats and something that makes it feel like a gift. Seven US brands are covered here: Bully Sticks Direct, Best Bully Sticks, Mighty Paw, Bow Wow Labs, Bully Bunches, Only Natural Pet and Value Pet Supplies. Between them they cover ready-made boxes, mixed packs, chew kits and bulk bags.
All seven describe their bully sticks as beef or beef pizzle. Gift-style sets in this guide run from $33.99 to $53.95, free-shipping rules range from no minimum to $79, and guarantees range from a 30-day promise to a refund if the dog does not like the chew.

1. Bully Sticks Direct: The Odor-Free, Single-Ingredient Pick for a Friend’s Home
Bully Sticks Direct is a family-run pet treat store in Ray, Michigan, now in its second generation in the pet industry. A gift ends up in someone else’s house, so simple matters: the chew is made of one ingredient, beef pizzle, with nothing artificial added.
The odor-free sticks go through a special process that cuts the smell way down, a plus when the stick will sit on a friend’s living room rug. They are built to last, too. The store’s guide puts a 6-inch stick at roughly 15 to 35 minutes, a 12-inch at 28 to 50 and a braided stick at 40 to 90 or more. The beef comes from humanely raised, FDA-approved suppliers, and no hormones or antibiotics are added.
Beyond bully sticks, you can add turkey tendons, collagen sticks or novel proteins like geese, camel and goat to build a box around the dog’s tastes. Orders ship direct from the store: odor-free bags start at $37.49, turkey tendon sticks cost $22.99 and Autoship takes 10% off. If you cannot decide, a gift certificate lets your friend choose. Free shipping is advertised on US orders, so confirm the terms at checkout.
Good fit if: you want a single-ingredient, odor-free chew, room to mix chew types and a gift certificate as a backup.
2. Best Bully Sticks: A Ready-Made Holiday Treat Box
Best Bully Sticks packages its bully sticks and natural dog bones in the USA and sells gift-style sets. Its Holiday Treat Box is described as full of stocking stuffers and perfect presents. Inside are a Chewzie bully stick holder toy, three 6-inch hickory smoked bully sticks, 10 bully snack sticks and a bonus bandana.
Its single-ingredient treats are made from high-quality beef and oven-dried. A Build a Bundle option lets you choose your own mix, and free shipping applies to orders of $79 and up and to subscriptions. The brand’s page claims more than 20,000 five-star reviews.
Good fit if: you want a box that is already put together, with a toy and a bandana included.
3. Mighty Paw: A Mixed Pack for a Dog You Have Not Met
Mighty Paw is based in Rochester, New York, where its team inspects each stick by hand. The 10-stick variety pack is $33.99, while 12-inch five-packs range from $30.99 for Standard to $75.99 for Jumbo.
Orders over $25 ship free, and a 30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee covers the purchase. The page shows 4.87 stars from 179 reviews. Strong flavor and smell are listed as a feature, so this one suits a dog that loves aroma.
Good fit if: you do not know how hard the dog chews and want a few thicknesses in one pack.
4. Bow Wow Labs: A Chew Kit With Safety in Mind
Bow Wow Labs matches sticks to the dog: Midsize for dogs under 30 lbs, Thick for 31 to 50 lbs and Jumbo from 51 lbs up. A Safe Chew Kit costs $52.95 (down from $75.95), and the Smart Bully Stick Bundle is $53.95.
The brand also sells the Bow Wow Buddy, a stick holder the company designed after a dog of its own choked on a bully stick. The sticks are plain beef pizzle, baked in an oven and described as low odor. Shipping is free over $59 in the continental US, a 30-Day Happy Dog Guarantee promises a full refund, and 1,249 reviews appear on the page.
Good fit if: you want a kit with safety gear and a weight-based size guide.
5. Bully Bunches: A Starter Pack Priced for a Small Gift
Bully Bunches is based in Romeo, Michigan. Its Starter Pack is $35.19 (reduced from $43.99), single 6-inch sticks start at $2.39, and a $21.95 safety holder makes an easy add-on.
The sticks are all beef pizzle from free-range, grass-fed cattle, and the page says odor is minimal. Orders over $75 ship free, Subscribe & Save gives 20% off the first order, and a Happy Dog Guarantee is listed. The company says more than 65,000 reviews back it up.
Good fit if: you have a small budget and want to add an extra or two.

Safety First: What the AKC Says About Edible Chews
The American Kennel Club’s guide, How to Pick Safe, Edible Dog Chews, by writer and trainer Stephanie Gibeault, says to choose chews big enough that the dog cannot fit the whole thing in its mouth at once. It also says to keep an eye on any new chew.
The guide calls bully sticks easily digestible and says to take one away once it is down to a nub. It warns that chews that are too hard can crack teeth or cut gums, and suggests limited, natural ingredients.
Final Thoughts
A good care package for a dog-loving friend mostly depends on four quick checks: the ingredient list, the smell, the shipping and the backup plan if the dog says no. Brands vary in ready-made boxes, kits and bulk bags, and in shipping rules and guarantees.
For a fair comparison, line up dog treat brands at the same budget and stick size. Ask your friend about the dog’s weight, allergies and chewing style, supervise the first chew, and skim the AKC’s guidance before you order.
