Teach Your Children to Prioritize!
Do your children have too many Wii Games, Nintendo Games, Xbox games or PSP games? Don’t buy more storage systems or cases for them- get RID of them! MusicMagpie will buy your unwanted Games! They take DS, Xbox, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii games and more. There’s only one problem with that- if your children are like my son, they don’t think they should get rid of any games, even if they haven’t played them in 2 years. I gave my son a deal he couldn’t pass up. If he took 10 games and sold them on MusicMagpie, he could keep the money and put it towards the Xbox One. What a great incentive to do some decluttering!
We love using our iPhones and iPod touch, so we downloaded the app. It was easy to install and you don’t even have to sign in to get the value of your games. With the FREE musicMagpie app you can sell your unwanted DVDs, CDs & Games quickly and easily. The app turns your smartphone’s camera into a handy barcode scanner and with nearly 1 million downloads it definitely makes selling easy. Once you download the app, you can use your camera to find out the value of your items just by scanning the barcode. It’s so easy! If only I could use it to get my son to clean his room.
Use the same method with those DVDs that are filling up your CD cases. If your child hasn’t watched certain movies in over a year, time to get rid of them. My son used to LOVE Scooby Doo, so needless to say, we have an OVER abundance of Scooby Doo Movies! If you get $2 or $3 for each one, his total cash for his Xbox One adds up quick.
Tips for Helping Kids Declutter their Toys:
1. Clean up and donate unused items when your child isn’t home. OK, so this is a parent strategy. But when your child is under 6, they have trouble letting go of toys they never use. Even when we discuss donating them to our church nursery, he still wanted to keep EVERYTHING.
2. No new toys until you get rid of three old ones. If my son wanted a new Lego set, he had to get rid of 3 toys in his room. This was a great incentive also.
3. Invite a few of your child’s friends over. Peer pressure is a great way to get rid of toys. And the best part is, if you pick friends that have younger siblings, you can often send those unwanted toys home with them.
4. Be patient. Some days, your child may not want to get rid of anything. Pick a laid back weekend so you aren’t rushed.
Good luck!
