Teach Your Children to Prioritize!

Tips for Helping Kids Declutter their Toys:
1. Clean up and donate unused items when your child isn’t home. OK, so this is a parent strategy. But when your child is under 6, they have trouble letting go of toys they never use. Even when we discuss donating them to our church nursery, he still wanted to keep EVERYTHING.
2. No new toys until you get rid of three old ones. If my son wanted a new Lego set, he had to get rid of 3 toys in his room. This was a great incentive also.
3. Invite a few of your child’s friends over. Peer pressure is a great way to get rid of toys. And the best part is, if you pick friends that have younger siblings, you can often send those unwanted toys home with them.
4. Be patient. Some days, your child may not want to get rid of anything. Pick a laid back weekend so you aren’t rushed.
