You know those nights when you just want one activity to bring everyone together, something quick, fun, and screen-free before bedtime? That was me last Friday. Baseball and soccer practice had run late, dinner was barely cobbled together, and I was this close to calling it a “movie night” just to keep the peace.
But instead, I decided to make it a family game night with our new Large As Life Puzzles. And wow, it completely shifted the mood in our house. Instead of scatter-brained chaos, we had laughter, teamwork, and a finished puzzle on the table in under 30 minutes. And the best part? Nobody asked for their iPad once.
About Large As Life Puzzles
I’d seen Large As Life puzzles around before, but I didn’t realize how much thought they put into their puzzles until I dug in. These aren’t your cookie-cutter rectangle puzzles. They’re unique jigsaw puzzles shaped like animals, designed to be colorful, clever, and just the right amount of challenging for kids (and let’s be real — moms too).
What I love most? They’re sturdy and beautiful, so you actually want to leave them out for a bit instead of shoving them back into the box. It’s like having a little piece of art that everyone in the family helped create.
Our Favorite Large As Life Puzzles
Red Panda Puzzle
We started our evening with the Red Panda puzzle. Bright, colorful, and absolutely adorable. It hooked the kids right away. My oldest claimed the panda’s face, my youngest worked on the edges, and I mostly floated around “helping” while sneaking bites of popcorn.
King Penguin Puzzle
Next up was the King Penguin, which was a little more challenging. My husband couldn’t resist joining in “just for a minute,” and suddenly he was as invested as the kids. We ended up turning it into a mini race, each person took a section, and we worked to see who could finish theirs first.
The teamwork (and let’s be honest, friendly competition) had everyone laughing. And by the end, the kids were high-fiving like they’d just won a championship.
Koala Puzzle
After two puzzles, I thought the kids might lose steam, but they begged for “just one more.” So we pulled out the Koala puzzle, which turned out to be the calmest part of the night. Everyone slowed down, leaned in, and pieced it together without much chatter — just that cozy hum of concentration.
It was one of those sweet moments where the room just felt… peaceful. Which, in a house full of kids, is nothing short of magic.
Under The Sea Joke Puzzle
We wrapped up the night with the Under The Sea Joke Puzzle on the living room floor. This one’s different from the animal puzzles. It has silly jokes hidden under some of the pieces, and the kids thought it was the funniest thing ever.
By this point, I just sat back with my tea and let them crack each other up while they worked. It was the perfect silly ending to our puzzle marathon — fast, funny, and completely screen-free.

Why Puzzles Make the Best Family Game Night
What I loved most about the night was how doable it all felt. Each Large As Life Puzzle only takes about 30 minutes, so you can do one or two and still have kids in bed on time. No endless rule explanations like board games, no sore losers, no “can I quit now?” halfway through. Just pure, simple fun that everyone could enjoy together.
For me, it was exactly what I needed — an activity that felt intentional and special without requiring hours of energy I didn’t have. For the kids, it was a win because they got to laugh, compete, and actually finish something together.
So if you’re looking for a way to make family game night easier (and a lot less stressful), trust me — puzzles are the way to go. Especially these ones.
