Books for Babies
When babies are little, reading to them encourages babies to look, point, and touch. It helps them with language skills by copying sounds, recognizing pictures, and learning words. Reading also helps support their social and emotional development. There are so many positive benefits of reading to littles.
My granddaughter is 18 months old and absolutely LOVES to look at the bright pictures in books. She will sit so still to listen to us read to her when she’s normally a big ball of energy. Watching her become so interested in books is a habit I hope she keeps.
Nosy Crow Books sent me a stack of lovely books to share with my grandbaby including My First ABC, My First Book of Nursery Rhymes, Little Bear and Little Dog, Wolf Wolf Dog and Roar Roar Lion, Welcome to Our Table, Santa Claus and the Three Bears, and When I Became Your Grandma. Most of the books we were sent were board books. But Nosy Crow offers much more than just toddler books.
A great book for this time of year is Santa Claus and the Three Bears. This is the cutest story featuring Santa and the Three Bears. Santa was sleepy when he reached the cottage in the woods. They tried to wake Santa, but nothing would wake him. So in order to save Christmas, Baby Bear and his friends must deliver the rest of Santa’s gifts. It’s a super cute story with lovely illustrations. This book is recommended for children 3+ and up. This is not a board book, so it goes on a high shelf for now. I do believe we will be reading this one all year long to our Little Bit.
More Information
Nosy Crow publishes so many wonderful stories and books I can hardly pick out my favorite. However, as I watch my little granddaughter, I can clearly see she loves the lift-the-flap books. They are all illustrated so beautifully and because we have a toddler, we know that board books are the best option for her to flip through independently.
We also love to read to her. She will climb into our laps with a book and sit so still. She’s soaking in everything we say and do, but her interest in books amazes me. She will look at them for hours, toting them around the house, and even show the dog.
My Thoughts on Nosy Crow Books
Being a book lover and an avid reader, I’m always trying to get others to read. My children didn’t like it until they got older but, I’m hoping my grandbaby will continue to see how great reading can be. There isn’t a book from Nosy Crow that I don’t like. The website breaks down the books into age-appropriate categories, by type of book, and you can even filter the results to your child’s interest.
Nosy Crow Books make a great gift for literally any occasion. I can give books as a baby shower gift, a birthday gift, and for practically every holiday. I mean, who needs roses on Valentine’s Day when you can give the gift of reading? And, what is better than a Nosy Crow book to fill up stockings at Christmas?
