Great tips for new moms!
Essential items to have when bathing your baby
Like anything, bathing a baby has now become something of multiple opinion. While it may be true that there are certain ways to clean-up your little one, what cannot be argued is that there are a number of core products that are essential to this task.
By making sure you have these in place you’ll keep your baby having fun and staying safe. And remember, if you’re not sure about why one product is more expensive, or what something means, never be afraid to ask or email the baby shop staff. After all, it’s their job to help you out.
Cover that tap and keep baby smiling
On first inspection, the bathroom seems safe. Aside from the obvious dangers of water, it seems as if everything is more or less OK, providing you are there. Then you start bathing your cute one and discover that the metal taps aren’t very forgiving.
And this is where the safety tap cover comes into play. By inflating one of these fantastic items around the harsh edges, there’ll be no accidental head or leg bumps, and you can always be sure that safety is paramount.
Safety covers are also great for inquisitive babies. Instead of reaching out for the hot tap, they’ll find themselves playing with a toy that’ll always keep their fingers safe and sound.
The bath mat is your friend
Babies are only small, so when they fall it’s not very far to get to the ground. Much as that’s the case, nobody wants their baby slipping and sliding around, especially in the bath. Equally, if you’re bathing then you need to ensure that you are stable too. That’s why the bath mat is not just an optional thing to have, and why all mums need it.
If you have more than one baby in need of a clean, then the baby shop should be able to help you with that, too. Just ask them where you can find the extra-long mats, or type it into the search bar on the website and see what comes up.
Toy time needs organising
Bathing mean playing, as much as keeping clean, so it’s always a wise idea to keep things in check so that the toys can’t spill out everywhere. This is where that old classic the bath toy bag comes to the rescue. By keeping everything secure in one place, you’re not risking getting out of the bath with your little one and treading on a toy that could lead to a mishap.
Keep it fun with a baby bath towel
When this product was invented, the baby shop became the place to be. Why? Because the hood on some of these towels is ideal for keeping baby’s head nice and cosy and warm at all times. Heat is soon lost when a small body steps out of the water, so keeping the heat where it should be is something to always think about. The cute factor also doesn’t go unnoticed, so don’t allow yourself to fall into the boring towel trap.
Toiletries are great
When looking in the baby shop, on or offline, it’s fair to say that the toiletries section will jump out at you. Keep focussed, however, and you’ll soon come across a few which stand out from the rest. In particular, you’ll need to keep an eagle-eye out for mild baby soaps that won’t upset or irritate your baby’s soft new skin.
The same goes for shampoo, and of course mild baby lotion. There are numerous nice-smelling products available on the market, so feel free to try a number of them out over the course of a few months.
