Learn More with Books from Merriam-Webster and Britannica #MegaChristmas22

Disclosure Statement for Mom Does Reviews

One of my favorite Go-To gifts for any occasion is books.  No matter the age of the recipient, books are fantastic because they help expand the mind whether it’s with words, pictures, insights, or facts.  Merriam-Webster and Britannica publish books that focus on learning, but they make it fun!  They make perfect gifts for any occasion.

Merriam-Webster and Britannica

For more than 180 years, Merriam-Webster has been a provider of language information.  Whether you’re an online learner or need a print book, Merriam-Webster can provide information on whatever subject you need.  Among all of their publications, Merriam-Webster is a leader in the information available for children.  They make any subject fun and interesting for our littles.  Below are a few of their books I’d like to share with you.

Merriam-Webster Word Puzzles

Britannica is an educational leader with more than 250 years of experience seeking out facts and proving knowledge through books, digital content, and educational tools.  Now they are offering their abundance of knowledge in forms that will help educate our children with fun topics and beautiful illustrations.

Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day

Word of the day books are so much fun.  Merriam-Webster introduces children ages 8-12 to a new word each day with Word of the Day.  Each word is accompanied by a definition, pronunciation, and trivia about each word.  Also, each month concludes with a story that features all of the new words learned that month.  There are 12 free audio downloads so young ones can hear each month’s story read aloud.

Merriam-Webster’s Word-Puzzle Adventures

I love word puzzles but when there is a book of word puzzles from Merriam-Webster, it’s going be so much more.  Word-Puzzle AdventuresWord-Puzzle Adventures is a compilation of word searches, crossword puzzles, word games, and quizzes.  Each puzzle has a different theme such as dinosaurs, crystals, and space.  Your littles can complete them alone or with friends while learning fun facts and building a large vocabulary.

Britannica’s First Big Book of Why

This large hardcover book from Britannica digs deep into the reason why things are the way they are.  More than 100 questions answered First Big Book of WhyFirst Big Book of Why covers all kinds of questions from penguins to astronauts.  Beautifully illustrated and expertly written, this book will keep your child exploring the mysteries about animals, the human body, and machines.  What a perfect gift to give the young ones on your Christmas list this year!

Britannica’s Baby Encyclopedia

My personal favorite book out of the ones I’m highlighting, The Baby Encyclopedia is so great.  It’s a large board book made for curious babies ages 0-3.  My granddaughter loves to look at the fun brightly illustrated pictures while listening to her mama read to her.  She’s quite little still, but the one-on-one time is so good for her along with the topics covered in this book.  Topics include things like animals, numbers, music and shapes.

Britannica's Encyclopedia

Britannica’s Gross Factopia

More than 400 gross facts on gastronomy medicine and weird smells are included in this Britannica book.  Designed for grade levels 3-7, your child will be provided information on nasty facts about flatulence, feces, and more disgusting topics.  Personally, I like to learn why things are the way they are, even if it’s something like how a cow can produce enough gas to fill 30 balloons per day.  Written and illustrated to keep a child’s attention, Gross Factopia is certainly one to put under the tree this year.

Factopia

I’ve shared multiple times that I love to give the gift of knowledge through books.  With Merriam-Webster and Britannica, we can share all this world has to offer but, in a fun, exciting way that kids will love.  My kids and grandkids will always be in the know because I am a book lover and feel if you stop learning then you stop growing.  Reading leads to learning, learning leads to knowledge, and knowledge lets you explore the world.
