Life is fun with kids. And London is an amazing city with a diverse population, incredible parks, beautiful landmarks and more tourist attractions than you could ever imagine. What more could you possibly ask for?
If it’s for some help and advice for a less hectic family day out, then you’re in luck…
Days out with the kids are a chance for all of the family to have fun together – and even to learn something new. But it just takes a long queue or a missed train to turn a fun-filled day out into a stressful situation.
There’s no doubt that finding a new way to spend quality time with the family at weekends is often challenging. It takes a time and a lot of planning. In London more than anywhere some might agree. So here we go with a few frugal tips that might help plan your perfect day out for all the family:
#1 If you plan in advance, you’re most likely to check out all the deals that are available in your area. State the obvious, we know but it’s very easy to get distracted during the week and leave everything till last minute. It might sounds slightly deplorable, but anyone with a big family will agree that scooping out a family deal is a bonus in any circumstance. I mean, who doesn’t love a bargain?
#2 Be sure to allow plenty of time to get to your destination as well – if you can drive, that’s great as you’ll miss the weekend public transport rush. But make sure that you’re able to park at your destination. And if you can, try and go during a quieter time, which could mean a 6am start for you (no rest for the wicked is there!)
#3 Many families have set routines that are difficult to break out of. Routines can get boring and for a perfect family day you should consider new ways to entertain yourself. Of course, when doing so you will have to consider the needs and attention span of all your family members. So with that in mind, try and include a little of everyone’s taste in the day out to make it enjoyable for all and limit the ‘moaning factor.’ They key is to find a good balance, which could be anything from someone’s favourite breakfast/dinner – to the activity – to the area of London you want to go to.
#4 With activities in mind, adding a little adventure is important. If all the family are interested in a bowling alley or another sporty game such as Bounce London ping pong, dump your sports bag into the wagon and go all out. London has the luxury of large family friendly parks by whereby you can continue the fun. There are many play things which can make the kids happy. They’ll also find new friends and get engaged with different kind of people. As we’re entering the spring/summer season there will be a lot of toy sales/markets, exhibitions, open theatres and family festivals. It will give your children a great holiday feel and it turns out to be the perfect day plan.
#5 and last but not least, it goes without saying that the prefect family day out will fluctuate widely from family to family but ones thing’s for sure – make their bedtime as uncomplicated as possible by ending the day with an early dinner at your favourite restaurant close to where you live. That way you can stroll back on full tummies and reflect on your favourite parts of the day before tucking them into bed and settling down to a relaxing evening.
