For women in treatment, finding a way to help them often seems overwhelming. And honestly, you are not alone. For those of us that have been in treatment, even knowing how to answer a question on the help we need is overwhelming. But what if there was a company that understood both sides of the issue? Introducing CaraKit, a company that understands. Created by women for women who are walking the path of treatments. Let’s look a little closer at this amazing company and all that they offer.
About CaraKit
Experience Is Key – It all began when a working mom of two young kids received a breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 44. She was lucky to be surrounded by an incredible network of generous friends and family who wanted to help but didn’t know how. The trouble was, she didn’t know, either.
It was after going through chemotherapy, three surgeries, and 30 rounds of radiation that she realized she wanted to help other women in the same situation—along with their family and friends. And so she founded CaraKit with a friend who had been impacted as a cancer caregiver as well. Now staffed by a passionate and talented team, CaraKit is based in Los Angeles, bringing a bit of luxury, comfort and hope to every kit.
Because the founders have all been patients themselves, they understand that medical challenges are difficult. And although no one can promise or predict the outcome, they do strongly believe in the power of hope. And of course the love and support of women who have survived and thrived. They also understand that the majority of the journey in treatment doesn’t take place at your clinic or local doctor’s office, but at home. I love that they understand that just a little luxury can bring someone a lot of joy, and it’s often the smallest of comforts that end up making the biggest difference.
CaraKit Navy Blue Pajamas – One Spirit Lifestyle
Women in treatment need comfortable pajamas to help them heal. The One Spirit Long Sleeve Pajama Set is made with a fabric blend of modal and spandex that feels buttery soft against the skin, while still being fashionable enough for everyday wear. And with buttons down the front, getting into bed after treatment or surgery is much easier than pulling over another top; plus they’re perfect for lounging around all day.
Other CaraKit Gift Sets for Women in Treatment
CaraKit offers gift packs created for specific treatment needs. Each gift pack was assembled by women who have walked the treatment path. Their insight into comfort needs of those currently in treatment makes shopping easier.
Healing Chemotherapy Gifts
Chemotherapy is no fun, but it doesn’t have to feel like you’re totally alone in this struggle. While side effects can make you feel hopeless or alone in your suffering, tips from patients who have been through this process before can be priceless. With tips on what helped them manage the side effects so hopefully someone else won’t have to stumble through without knowing what to expect. This kit includes all sorts of practical goodies including an entire medicine cabinet overhaul which provides peace of mind when coping starts feeling too difficult
Surgery Recovery Gifts
When going through surgery, one of the most challenging aspects is often recovery. The Surgery Recovery kit includes practical essentials to manage things like limited mobility and difficulty showering. Also included are things like calming elements that can help with emotional effects from being inactive or injured in an accident. It’s important not only start slow but also find small tools for each day so you don’t feel overwhelmed by your change. Be steady when building up your strength, and don’t rush into activities too quickly. Try to find small ways to advance your recovery each day.
Radiation Care Gifts
Radiation is no fun. It is both a mental and physical battle that you are facing. But with products like the ones in the Radiation Care Kit, the journey is possible. And since the cumulative effect of radiation treatment is hard to handle, this Radiation Care kit includes everything you need to make life more comfortable during radiation treatment. It includes creams, treats, and loose fitting pajamas. As with the other gift packs, this one was created by women who have been there themselves so they know how it feels and what they found helpful.
My Thoughts
Having been through treatment myself, I can tell you how much it means to have comfort items that actually work. And while helpful tips from loving friends is nice, unless they understand what treatments are like, often they are not helpful at all. My best tips and help came from my friends that had also walked the path I was on. Not only in their recommendations on ways to treat side effects, but their understanding of special physical and meal needs was priceless to me.
When I arrived home from my last treatment, my daughter had my pajamas ready on my bed along with a bottle for beverages and a decorative jar of sugar free treats. All I had to do was change clothes and climb under the blanket!
Now when a friend is facing treatment, I will be ordering them a CaraKit Healing Essentials Package. Short of other daily physical help, I can’t think of a better way to let them know that I am here for them and that I am on their team for recovery.
