Mermaid Starfish Wand Craft for Kids
Materials needed:
Craft Felt – Bright Pink, Light Purple, Turquoise Blue
Glitter Glue, Dark Pink, Dark Blue, Dark Purple – Dollar Store
Wooden Dowels – Dollar Store
Curling Ribbon, Iridescent – Dollar Store
Washable Marker
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks (low temp works best!)
Scissors
Ruler
MERMAID STARFISH WAND PATTERNS
How to make these magical Mermaid Starfish Wands:
STEP ONE
Download, print and then cut out the MERMAID STARFISH WAND PATTERNS with scissors. Trace starfish pattern once, flip over and trace the reverse starfish image a second time on craft felt with a marker.
STEP TWO
Cut out all patterns with scissors, cutting inside the traced lines, so you have a clean finished project. The younger kiddos might need some help with the cutting.
STEP THREE
Outline and accent one of the Mermaid Starfish patterns with a coordinating colors of glitter glue. Cluster dots in the center and then add a single row trailing out each starfish arm. Set aside to allow glitter glue to dry. Place patterns on a piece of scrap cardboard, so they are easier for the kiddos to transfer.
STEP FOUR
Apply a line of low temp glue from a glue gun down the center of the plain starfish and insert wooden dowel. Glue the embellished Mermaid Starfish on top. You can use liquid craft glue, but you’ll have to wait to let it dry.
STEP FIVE
Measure and cut a 24” and a 36” length of iridescent curling ribbon for each Mermaid Starfish Wand. To finish, tie ribbons in a knot at the top of the wand, open scissors and gently curl the ribbon ends.
