Why The Future Of Education May Be Online

April 1, 2021 by Pam Maynard

The pandemic has finally made online education a new priority for schools and universities. The joy of learning isn’t something that can be defined by your physical presence in a classroom. On the contrary, the pandemic has proven that learning can happen almost anywhere. While it is still early days, it is fair to say that COVID-19 is helping to revolutionize the education sector.

There are many reasons why encouraging digital education is a good thing. While it doesn’t mean that physical classrooms should disappear, there’s plenty of room to diversify and enhance the online offering. Even in a post-pandemic environment where it’s safe to meet up again, digital lessons and learning solutions can elevate education and make it more accessible.

Still not convinced? Here is a brief overview of what it could do for children and adults:

More specialist apps and services

Autism, ADHC, learning difficulties, dyslexia, social anxiety… The label doesn’t matter. A lot of children who would love to learn often feel isolated or left behind because of these issues. Truth be told, we can understand why physical schools might struggle to cope with them. They require special care and unique attention, which can be tricky for a teacher who’s trying to manage a full class.

But in the digital world, your child can use a specially designed software tool or an app to manage their learning process at their own pace. In other words, digital solutions could mean the end of school struggle. There is no bad learner, there are only inadequate tools.

Allow for productive creativity

Being creative is the best way of learning. You learn by making rather than repeating. Therefore, offering children and adults a safe and controlled creative path promotes their education. The digital sphere is great for creativity as it’s easy to build an online project. For teachers, for instance, a platform such as Studentreasures.com can be the right option. There’s an activity tool that lets children write their own classbook online.

But you can also use similar narrative schemes to encourage adults to use their knowledge creatively. An interactive storyboard, for instance, can be great for designers, programmers, and writers altogether!

Why The Future Of Education May Be Online

It’s fully flexible

The thing about school is that it comes with its own opening hours. As adults, we learn to recognize our productive periods during the day. Some people work best during the morning, while others are night-owls. It would be unfair to pretend that children aren’t the same.

Online education tools could introduce a flexible approach to learning, making sure that it’s there when the student is ready to learn. Additionally, it’s also a fantastic option for kids who have a lot of extracurricular activities, so they can fit everything in seamlessly.

Friends behind a screen are friends too

Finally, making friends online can be in many ways easier than in a physical classroom. Shy students, for instance, can find it easier to reach out to their virtual peers and build up new friendships. Regardless of your age, it’s hugely beneficial to find study partners. You can motivate each other, but you also build a deeper bond as you share a common experience.

Making education available online and offline can not only make it more accessible, but it can also make it more enjoyable for many students. Digital tools can allow for better support, enhanced flexibility, more creative learning, and, more importantly, new friendships! Are you ready for education 2.0?
