The history of diamonds dates back to nearly 3000 years when it first gained recognition in India. Hard to get a glimpse of, it was not until the beginning of 20th century; De Beers contribution to the diamond industry made it an abundant commodity. It is to be believed that the 1947 ad campaign by De Beers ‘A diamond is forever’, is what equated the gemstone to ‘Love’.
But why do women love diamonds?
As beautiful as it looks, every woman desires to own at least one form of diamond jewellery. It is one of the most unique commodities where culture and materialism as an aspect are overlooked because no matter where you come from you will always admire them.
Made out of the ordinary, carbon, diamonds are one of the most indestructible substances found by mankind. The hard work put in cutting the diamonds is immeasurable as the expertise and meticulousness required is scarce, to transform it into a polished gemstone.
