Wedding Flower Trends for 2021

February 19, 2021 by Pam Maynard

As states start to ease travel restrictions to jumpstart the economy, most couples are now back to the drawing board planning their marital union. Of course, the first things you should consider would be the more critical items on your checklist, including the wedding venue, reception, bridal dress, and wedding date.

Wedding Flower Trends for 2021

However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be looking at little details that would make your nuptials unforgettable. Among those are your wedding flowers. If you are still unsure of what bridal flowers you should have for your ceremony, here are the wedding flower trends will add flair to your reception:

Statement Wedding Backdrops

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is still discouraging large gatherings, so it would be expected that intimate weddings broadcasted over video conferencing apps would still be prominent. As such, having an appealing wedding backdrop should be a priority for couples.

You can choose to follow this trend and have over-the-top arrangements to make your online viewers feel the wedding vibe through their screens. Options can include having ceiling installations, flower walls, and huge altar arrangements.

Dried Flowers

The use of dried flowers is not new in the wedding industry. However, they were commonly reserved for unions with a rustic theme. Their use is increasingly becoming popular as most couples incorporate dried flowers and greenery to add character to different wedding styles, such as minimalistic, bohemian, and classic aesthetics.

The popular dried flowers and foliage desired by brides include baby’s breath, lavender, daisies, and eucalyptus. They are great for accentuating tables, escort cards, and even bridal bouquets.

White Wedding Flowers

Marriages are often associated with white colors. However, over the years, more people have become bolder when adding pops of color into their wedding motifs. This year, white will become a central theme that would be commonly seen in nuptials.

Many couples are now leaning towards having all-white flower ensembles paired with earthy tones for a subtle accent of color. Since white symbolizes peace and balance, it is no longer surprising that couples would opt to mirror these in their weddings after a tumultuous 2020.

Painted Flowers

As of late, florists are experimenting with ideas to increase the variety of offerings for their clients, and the latest craze is painted flowers. This trend was born because florists need to survive the reduced transport of flowers from farms. Many florists use spray paints to breathe new life into their blooms and arrangements.

These paints can add a pop of color, infuse elegance, and increase its flair. They can use different colors to create color palettes that match the motif.

Wildflowers

For 2021, classic floral arrangements will take a backseat. Wedding receptions will showcase natural displays that feature wildflowers. As such, a la carte floral options of wildflowers will become popular.

As whimsical and magical setups will be common, you can expect to find an abundance of pampas grass, eucalyptus, ferns, monsteras, and anthuriums to take center stage. Table pieces will have loosely arranged flowers that match intimate and informal unions.

Sun Palms

Since a whimsical vibe will dominate 2021, sun palms are also gaining traction as a new floral statement piece. They are the perfect flowers to accentuate your bohemian or tropical wedding. The trend can be rooted in people’s pressing need to travel to explore the world. These palms perfectly encapsulate that desire. Plus, they are some of the most convenient and versatile botanicals to use since they can be painted or dyed in any color that you may want.

These bridal flower trends are perfect for welcoming a new era in your life. Incorporate some into your wedding day and bring joy and happiness into this next phase with your partner.
