Jigsaw Puzzles for Family Fun
Puzzles are a fantastic Christmas gift idea for the whole family because they offer hours of entertainment and quality time together. Whether it’s a classic jigsaw puzzle, a brain-teasing crossword, or a challenging Sudoku, there are plenty of options for every age and skill level. A 300-piece family puzzle can be a great way to bring the family together due to the various sized pieces that promote teamwork, problem-solving, and communication among all generations in the family. Plus, they can be enjoyed throughout the holiday season and beyond, making them a gift that keeps on giving. With so many benefits, puzzles are a thoughtful and fun way to spread holiday cheer and create lasting memories with loved ones.
Great Gifts: Family Games
Sagrada
This game from Floodgate games is really fun, and you use your brain to strategize where to place colored dice to gain the most points. We love dice games, and this was a novel way to use dice. You are creating a stained glass work of art with lots of colorful dice. First you pull a set amount out of the bag and roll them. Then you have to think through the placement of the dice. The colors of the game drew me in, but the strategical gameplay has me wanting to play again and again.
Brainwaves: The Astute Goose
This Thames and Kosmos game is not your everyday memory game! This game is Scientist recommended to help with brain training for the whole family. Now you can giggle and enjoy family fun while exercising your brain. In this game you have a suspect line up that you have to study. Then they are flipped over and you have to recall what they were wearing, their pet, and their color to win cards. Whoever has the most at the end wins. We had a fun time playing this game. Since it is a quick play we can play it easily even if we only have a short amount of time when we are all together. Most noteworthy is you can increase the difficulty as you so desire. This game is a great gift idea for both kids and adults on your list!
Exit The Game: The Forgotten Islands
In this game from Thames and Kosmos, we were stuck on an island and had to solve puzzles to escape. What a fun adventure to take as a family. We got to work together to try and solve the puzzles. I like to use my brain, and this game had aspects of strategy as well as riddle-solving. You can play alone or with up to four people. There is even an app you can get to add atmospheric sounds and a digital timer. This great gift will thrill your adventure-seeking family and friends.
Great Gifts: Sensory and Tactile Fun
Crazy Aaron’s Mixed by Me Putty
With this kit, your kids can make their very own Thinking Putty. It comes with tins of clear putty and six-color concentrates to mix and create your own colors. This one here is the Holographic set, and the color concentrates had prismatic flecks in them, which make the putty awesome looking! There is also a color mixing chart to give you some ideas and some activities to do with your putty. My daughter loves slime, putty, and all things tactile. This kit was a big hit with her and is a great gift for the children on your list.
Crazy Aaron’s Holiday Scentsory
This putty is scented and has holiday themes. This cute Yeti is peppermint-scented and so much fun to play with. I love Yetis, so I got this putty for myself. I guess my daughter didn’t care because she took it. Anyway, it makes her happy to play with this putty, so I guess I will let her keep it. You can pick an adorable sugar plum-scented reindeer, a chocolate mint snowman, or a Christmas cookie-scented Santa as well. These would make epic stoking stuffers for everyone! I hope there is a reindeer one in my stocking.
Creatto
This hands-on crafting set from Thames and Kosmos lets you create 4 different animals or objects, and they light up. Then you can use your imagination and make your own creations. We love the bright colors of this kitty cat, it is just perfect for my daughter’s room. They also have other less pink kits, like a blue shark, a blue elephant, and a green moose. Each kit makes four different creations. The Kitty set can also make a mouse house, a teddy bear, and a squirrel. This is a great gift that you can do together with younger kids or leave older kids to do it themselves. Once it is done, it makes a beautiful night light for their room. Then they can change it up when they want something different!
