About The Distance Learning Playbook for Parents

Distance Learning Playbook for Parents

Parent involvement has always been a vital part of any child’s education, but the pandemic and resulting remote instruction require that parents and educators partner at a deeper level.

The Distance Learning Playbook for Parents outlines supportive strategies for navigating virtual environments. This helps to ensure effective and impactful learning that aligns the needs and expectations of teachers, parents, and students alike.

Throughout this guide parents are armed with the essential tips, tools, and insight to enable distance learning.

Detailed guides and processes are given to help parents with:

  • Creating a learning environment and establishing daily routines. Both of these are essential to distance learning and taking care of the family.
  • Learning how to maximize learning periods by establishing routines that focus on proven teaching methods.
  • Developing the learning attitude and mindset that is needed for distance learning. Teaching your child to lean in to their creativity and critical thinking skills which will improve their life skills in problem solving.

My Thoughts

Family Distance Learning
As our children have grown, our family has been a mix of public, private, and homeschooling. Now that the world has changed so much, all of us are settling into the distance learning mode. And while it would be nice to think that everything will be back to the old normal soon…what happens if it doesn’t? For us this means we are distance learning of course, but we are also using the time to learn other skills. Our crew are schooling together as much as possible so they can divide up the little ones into groups.

The best thing we as parents can do to help our children is to be as informed as possible. Understanding the best way to instruct the material that needs to be covered takes a lot of the stress off the parent.

This guide covers the entire gamete of areas. It jumps right in with the basics that every parent needs to know. Things like Zoom Etiquette, setting up a learning center, and how to communicate with teachers.

Moving on, it dives into the value of various topics such as Reading, Math, and even Practice. Next up are the different mindsets for both students and family members. I think it is important to remember that the world changed for our little ones too. It’s easy to think about how many things have changed in our lives as adults, but it is important to remember that their world has been flipped upside down. For some children, this is very hard for them to accept or even know how to deal with all the feelings they are experiencing.

I felt this Distance Learning Playbook for Parents is something that should be sent to every parent with children in the school system. Public, Private, or Homeschooling – the information contained within the pages is priceless. Even after homeschooling for almost 40 yeas, I found the suggestions and recommendations right on point.

Help for a Struggling Parent

This book is really a game changer for any parent, but especially for those that may be struggling with teaching their children at home.

It is stressed throughout the book, and I couldn’t agree more with the following statement:
We do not need to become teachers. We just need to partner with the teachers and facilitate the learning for our children in this new and often scary time.
