Focusing on Studies: Efficient Ways to Gain Knowledge

July 22, 2020 by Pam Maynard

Some of us have a natural talent to suck in knowledge, and others need to make more of an effort. People usually tell that if you want to become educated and get more knowledge, you just need to read more. It’s a fallacy. We got used to that long-standing fact that reading broadens our horizons, but sometimes, the information we gleaned might gradually erase from our memory until it vanishes completely. Even when you have read one of the edubirdie reviews, over time, you need to look it through again to refresh the information.  Let’s look at how you can acquire vital knowledge and make it work.

Focusing on Studies: Efficient Ways to Gain Knowledge

Teach Others or Pretend You Do It

If you imagine you have to explain the material you are currently studying to someone, it will allow you to memorize more information faster. For example, when teachers are preparing to teach, they usually look for key ideas and organize the information to give it a clear structure. Try to systematize the information you are studying now and present it to your classmate, a family member, or yourself in the mirror.

Make Notes by Hand

Scientists have proven that students listen more actively and better, recognizing important information when they take notes by hand. Those students who keep records have a thoughtless transcript instead of filtered information. Besides, people in front of computers are more likely to be distracted. Students who don’t take notes by hand are less able to cope with conceptual issues: they usually take notes word-for-word rather than process information and formulate it in their own words.

Practice Every Chance You Get

You have to realize why you need certain knowledge clearly, and only after complete realization will you be eager to learn something new. Unfortunately, value knowledge is not always obvious, since many people are not chasing them as much as money. Some values are more understandable because we use them constantly and openly, and we see what benefits they have.

If you want your gained knowledge is to be remembered for a long time, keep applying them at every opportunity to make it your second nature. For example, if you know how to write essays in theory and have a habit of ordering them from essaypro, start writing essays on your own mastering your skills.

Take a Nap

If you wish to succeed in studying, you need to be deactivated from time to time to clear your head. Sleeping between lessons helps to memorize educational material better. When you integrate a nap into the learning process, you have dual benefits — it reduces the time you spend re-learning the material and helps you remember the material longer.

Don’t Try to Learn Everything at One Time

It seems ironic, but we learn faster and better when we distribute the load. Benedict Carey, who wrote the book “How We Learn” compares the learning process to watering a lawn. For example, you can water a loan once a week for two hours, or three times a week for half an hour. If you do it more often, it will look greener. Students who want to remember the material better repeat it a day or two after you first read it.

There’s a theory that if you’re trying to learn something fast, the brain pays less attention to learning. If you repeat the information a few days or a week later, it sends your brain a message that the information still needs to be remembered. Of course, if you are in a hurry and don’t have too much time to digest information, you might use studybay academic writers to save your day.
